Overview

When it comes to TVRs it's not just about the unconventionally stunning looks. It's not even solely about the blistering performance. When you drive a TVR, regardless of model or vintage, it's about the experience. The feeling and involvement that a TVR provides is like nothing else. There's just something different, some je ne sais quoi that sets them apart from other sports car manufacturers and if you've ever driven or owned one then you'll know what we're talking about.

The T350 is no exception. Breaking cover in 2002 the T350 coupe, based on the Tamora roadster, features a 3.6-litre TVR-developed Speed Six engine developing 350bhp, hence the car's rather matter-of-fact name, which is a decent amount of power for such a compact and lightweight sports car. Looking like nothing else on the road and providing a driving experience that's about as thrilling and engaging as it gets (there are no intrusive driver aids here) the TVR T350 remains a superlative sportster and with just 460 ever made during its four year production run there's a certain degree of exclusivity too.

This is not a standard 350T though. A low mileage 2004 targa-topped T variant that has been in single ownership since new, this example has very much been set up as a hugely capable track-focussed weapon. With a full race engine (built and enlarged to 4.0-litres by Alistair Mackey at AMAC Engineering in Northallerton) featuring a billet crank, polished ports and Carrillo rods and pistons, it really does mean business. Alongside the engine a short ratio gearbox, Quaife ATB limited-slip differential, Nitron suspension dampers and upgraded brakes and interior make this the complete racing package.

Having proven its worth at numerous track days (15 with the new engine and always trailered to the circuits, as reported by the vendor), the car has been in storage in an air conditioned garage for the past 15 years but has recently been fully serviced and put back on the road complete with an advisory-free MOT until March 2027. Make no mistake people, this is one serious bit of kit.

• The speedometer doesn't work, but the Racelogic system is perfectly fine and accurate

Summary

Very much a road-legal track car, this TVR T350 T has been professionally set up to take on all-comers and would certainly make for an incredibly exciting addition to anyone's collection. In a sea of overly-cosseting, hand-holding cars, the TVR T350 makes for a refreshing change, with each clipped apex and every half a second advantage feeling well and truly earned. So if you're after a unique, brilliantly set up and highly engaging performance toy then perhaps it's time to call off the search.
