Overview

There's a certain kind of hot hatch that treats the school run and the B4391 with equal enthusiasm, and the Mk2 Focus RS is right at the top of that list. Ford took Volvo’s 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder, gave it a bigger turbo, a forged crank and a proper motorsport attitude, then sent all 305bhp to the front wheels through a Quaife limited-slip differential and its clever RevoKnuckle front end. The result is a car that hooks up, fires down the road and warbles away to itself, all while carrying a boot big enough to be useful on a Monday morning.

This one is a Frozen White example that has been given a purposeful makeover. A full Maxton Design gloss-black splitter, side-skirt and rear kit sharpens the factory RS aero, RS mud flaps sit front and rear, and the whole car sits nicely 19-inch silver multi-spoke alloys. Lift the bonnet and you'll find a Mountune MR375 upgrade, while the chunky Cobra exhaust pipes add a bit of theatre at the back.

Just as importantly, it's been kept as a car to use. The timing belt, water pump and head gaskets were all renewed in 2021, and it had a major service at a Ford specialist in December 2025. Yes there are a few age-appropriate marks noted in the sections below, but the overall impression is of a well-sorted RS that's ready to be driven and enjoyed.

Summary

This is a Mk2 Focus RS bought and kept as a driver's car, and it shows. The Frozen White paint and Maxton Design aero provide some mild visual tweaks, and the RS cabin still feels like an occasion every time you drop into the Recaros. And the Mountune MR375 kit provides real firepower. With the timing belt, water pump and head gaskets already sorted and a recent major service behind it, much of the hard work has been done. While there’s some opportunity to enhance the cosmetics, in the meantime you can simply get in and enjoy one of the all-time great fast Fords.
