Overview

Not only is the Gallardo perhaps the ultimate embodiment of what a supercar should be, it was also the car that assured Lamborghini's continued success. Aggressively styled and with an absolutely glorious V10 providing the forward motion via all four wheels the car was both beautiful and rapid in equal measure and owing to the fact that the Volkswagen Audi group were now at the helm, it was reliable too. 

Park a Gallardo next to a Jalpa – Lamborghini's previous “entry-level” model – and it's hard to reconcile that they're built by the same company, such are the Gallardo's qualities (not to mention the age gap) and compared to the Jalpa, Lamborghini shifted far more units of the Gallardo, kick-starting the company's subsequent meteoric rise.

And it's not surprising that the car was such a success. Here was a compact, aluminium-structured mid-engined supercar with all-wheel drive and a hand built 5.0-litre, naturally aspirated V10 producing the best part of 500bhp that was better on paper than the equivalent Ferrari. The icing on the cake? A gated six-speed manual gearbox. Although a flappy paddle automated manual was also available.  

Clearly well-maintained, this particularly menacing black 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo comes to market with excellent main dealer and specialist service history and benefits from an interior re-trim in Alcantara as well as a sharper, more modern looking profile thanks to the addition of an LP560 front bumper. Presenting well overall no expense has seemingly been spared in keeping the car in excellent mechanical health (the notorious hose issue was addressed in 2023) and the vendor reports no issues, just a very well driving example.

Summary

Bestowed with an analogue simplicity that is distinctly lacking from modern supercars the Lamborghini Gallardo does exactly what it says on the tin and there's a beautiful elegance in submitting yourself to the car's inherent characteristics without getting bogged down in myriad settings trying to find the perfect setup. It's pure and unadulterated and that's a huge plus in our books and this car's refreshed interior, low mileage and impressive service history only add to the desirability factor.
