Every so often BMW M builds something that makes perfect sense on paper and even more on the road. The F06 M6 Gran Coupe is one of them: four doors, a long, low roofline and a 4.4-litre twin-turbo S63 V8 up front. Add a seven-speed M DCT sending drive to the rear wheels and you've got a genuine supercar wearing a beautifully cut business suit.

And what a suit, because 552bhp and 502lb ft will fire it to 62mph in 4.2 seconds and on to a limited 155mph. Yet it'll also carry four adults in comfort, swallow a weekend's luggage and rack up big motorway miles without breaking a sweat. Who says the sensible option has to be the dull one at the school gates?

This one was first registered in October 2015 and wears dark metallic grey that picks up a subtle blue tint in the right light. Carbon mirror caps and 20-inch M alloys sharpen the look, while the cabin is a smart mix of black extended leather and carbon trim. It also benefits from a transferable warranty to a new private owner.
