Overview

Ask a pub full of PHers which M3 to have and plenty will pick the E46, for its blend of power, performance and usability. Its 3.2-litre S54 straight-six made 343bhp at a heady 7,900rpm, one of the highest specific outputs of any naturally aspirated engine at launch. The Convertible followed in February 2001, and the last ones left Regensburg in August 2006.

This one was built in June 2005, making it one of the later Convertibles, and it's specced as the full-fat, four-seat grand tourer. Titan Silver over light grey leather is a period-perfect, understated combination, and SMG II with paddles and Drivelogic suits the touring brief nicely. Heated memory seats and factory widescreen nav mean it'll do long-distance comfort as well as it does a B-road blast.

It's worn its 69,854 miles honestly, mind. The light grey bolsters show some wear and a couple of rims have kissed a kerb. A leather specialist and a wheel refurb would sharpen things right up.

Fancy a high-revving grand tourer for all four seasons? Recent rear top mount work and an MOT to October 2027 help the case. Add even panel gaps across the majority of the car and a cabin full of kit, and this late-build M3 has plenty to give.

Summary

A late-build, fully loaded E46 M3 Convertible with the S54 and paddle-shift SMG II is a tempting thing. This one wears Titan Silver over light grey leather, has recent top mount work and an MOT to October 2027, and looks ready to use. All it needs now is an open road and someone who appreciates 7,900rpm.
