Description
Hi & welcome to the sale of my 1985 Mini Mayfair.
As you can see she has been modified to look like an earlier Mini Cooper S.
I bought her last year as a rolling project for my Son & myself to do, she had already had the bodywork done with new wings, A pillars, door skins, sills etc new subframes front & rear & Hi-Lo suspension & had been sprayed in Old English White with a black roof so she was a great starting point. Floors are all solid.
She is fitted with a 1275 engine (still 998cc on log book) & an 11 stud head (which I was told is a big valve type) & twin SU carbs, LCB & twin box Minispares exhaust, its a really nippy little car & sounds great.
Since we got her I've added Tex door mirrors & over-taking mirror, stainless bumpers & over-riders / corner bars, rear reversing light, front fog lights & as you can see in one of the photos I've recently added a centre spot light, these are all wired via an auxiliary Lucas fuse box, relays & controlled by lucas style toggle switches. I then replaced the original 2 clock binnacle with an older style centre speedo / temp & oil gauge plus a period tachometer mounted in a pod in front of the driver, these are all wired up & working & the dash finished off with a vinyl trim kit. Mark 2 rear lights & dummy right hand filler, both fitted with Monaco style filler caps. I then purchased a 1969 'G' reg plate to complete the look. She does look the part & fools a lot of people.
Seats are black vinyl low back bucket style with matching vinyl to the rear seats & door cards.
New clutch slave cylinder & heater matrix recently fitted & many other jobs I've probably forgotten about.
Group 2 arches & 12" Minilite style wheels with excellent Falken tyres all round. 8.5" front disc brakes.
Just had her MOT'd with no advisories.
She is running really well & is great fun to drive.
Overall she is in very good solid condition but she is far from concourse so don't expect perfection. The paint job is very presentable but not professional & there is some very minor scabs here & there but this just adds to the illusion.
She is ready to use & enjoy.
The only reason I'm thinking of selling is my Son has now bought an Alfa Romeo GTV & I'm looking for a replacement for my recently sold weekend toy so she's not going to be used as much now.
If you require any more information please don't hesitate to contact me.
Finally the steering wheel in the photos is not included as it has sentimental value but will be replaced with a very similar Mountney style one.
