Jaguar Mark II 340

First registered October 1967 (F Reg) this Jaguar 3.4 Manual with Overdrive Saloon was (as confirmed by the original Green/Buff Log Book that accompanies the car) first registered by Jaguar Cars. As far as we can reasonably determine the car has since had five subsequent private owners. It remains finished in its original colour scheme of British Racing Green with Tan trim and is fitted with Wire Wheels, overdrive and more importantly, power steering. Since purchasing this wonderful car, we have since been contacted by a Mr Pat H. who was an apprentice for Jaguar in the '60's. He has confirmed that this exact car was one of three used by the factory in the Earls Court Motorshow ([a 240, a 340 and a 2.5). Prior to the show Pat was tasked with running the cars from Jaguar up and down the motorway to Sheffield and back until he had covered 1500 miles in each to run them in.....back to the factory, fill up and back again....... A little history, late in 1967 the 2.4 litre and 3.4 litre Mark 2 cars were rebadged as the 240 and 340 respectively. And the 3.8 litre model was discontinued. The 240 and 340 were interim models intended to fill the gap until the introduction of the XJ6 in September 1968. The 340 was discontinued on the introduction of the XJ6 but the 240 continued as a budget priced model until April 1969. Only 2,788 340s were produced making it (other than the 380 which never entered production) the rarest Mark 2 model. An often-disregarded fact, (and one kept quiet by Jaguar at the time) is that the 340 was fitted with the straight port cylinder head from the E-Type, making the car almost as fast as the bank robbers favourite, the 3.8. In the 340, the 0 to 60 sprint was achieved in 8.8 seconds and then on to 124 mph; pretty swift in its day! Kept in Alicante Spain the car was offered to us in part exchange against a more modern F Type. There are on file various invoices for parts and servicing a bundle of MoT certificates that go some way to confirming the mileage and various valuation certificates. Most importantly the car is supplied it its original colours, it is fitted with power steering and we have the original 'buff logbook'......... More recently this 340 was given a full service by Clasicos Legendarios in Alicante at a cost of 2,500. In summary, a nice original, Right Hand Drive car which is in very good overall condition, ready to use and enjoy. Will come to its new owner with a full workshop inspection, a new mot if applicable, all paperwork and history and a warranty to be discussed at time of purchase
