MODEL HISTORY

Aston Martin launched the V8 Vantage V550 as the company’s flagship model offering unrivalled performance in a ‘gentleman’s club’ environment. Built from 1993 until 1999, these monstrous cars had a 5340cc V8 engine, boosted by two enormous Eaton superchargers producing 550bhp and 550lb ft of torque. This car is not for the faint of heart.

The power is fed through a beefy 6-speed manual gearbox and allows the 1990kg beast to reach 60mph in 4.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 186mph (although 200mph is claimed by many owners). To stop the car, massive 362mm diameter ventilated disc brakes are fitted with 4-piston AP racing callipers, these were the largest brakes ever fitted to a road car at the time.

The V550 and V600 cars were the some of the last hand built models Aston Martin ever produced. They were expensive, luxurious and hugely over the top in every way. When piloting these special cars you are in a moment I history that is more akin to a fighter jet than a car and the massive power and torque they produce was not to be exceeded by the company for decades to come. Only 239 standard examples were produced and when they ceased production in 1999, the era of the heavyweight coach built Astons was over for good.

We are delighted to offer this late production, very low mileage Aston Martin V8 Vantage V550. This UK market RHD Vantage V550 is finished in Pentland Green Superlustre complimented with a special order Fern Green leather interior. The condition of the car is just stunning and it must be as close to a new car as is possible – the seats, carpets, door cards etc are all in excellent condition.

It was acquired through Grange Aston Martin in Brentwood and was serviced by them until twice in 1998 then it was serviced with Works Service at the factory in Newport Pagnell from 1983 until 2008. In 2009 the car remained a ‘1 family owned’ example and Aston Workshop serviced and sold the car to the current owner with only 9820 miles on the clock.

The current Anglo-French owner has kept the car in France for the past 11 years where the car has been stored in his dry, heated garage and used only very sparingly, covering just 400 miles. Following its return to the UK Aston specialists Oselli Ltd have given the car a full service, they rebuilt the superchargers and overhauled the brakes.

This Aston Martin Vantage V550 now presents and drives beautifully and must surely be one of the best examples in existence having had, in essence only 2 owners and covered just 10,200 miles with a full service history. This magnificent car is now available for sale at The Classic Motor Hub.
