Audi 100S Coupe - In Good Condition - Very Rare
Est £18,000 - £24,000
This car is in auction on The Market website. The auction is LIVE now and finishes on 3rd March. Price is an estimate.
Manufactured in 1972, our attractive 100S Coupe was acquired by the seller back in 2017. He spent many, many years searching for the perfect car, even looking overseas when unable to find what he was after.
Put off by the thought of a left-hand drive car, his patience was rewarded when his car off choice was offered by its long-term owner in Scotland. The steering wheel was on the correct side and the car came with the preferred manual gearbox.
The car had also benefitted from a comprehensive restoration programme over many years, but with still a few jobs to finish off. This appealed greatly to our seller, being handy as he was with the spanners.
Before he took delivery however, he had the car shipped directly to Central VW Audi in Ellesmere Port, who very quickly relieved him of £1,500 to put a few issues right.
The seller has enjoyed taking the Audi to classic car shows and it was his intention to keep this car for the long term to enjoy in his retirement. Sadly, a serious back injury last year means that he now finds driving the car too difficult so it is now being offered for sale.
The seller tells us that he believes the car had a full respray in around 2015. Before this was done, the previous owner had sourced original replacement body panels from Germany. Copies of the receipts are in the history file.
Whilst the car still looks very smart from a distance, it is clear that there are now some areas of micro blistering which may need addressing. Our extensive photographs show this in detail. In addition, there are some scratches and minor crazing in places. There is also a small rust bubble on the sunroof surround.
We must also report that the car’s bonnet is a slightly different shade to the rest of the panels, some of which have a somewhat flat finish.
We suspect the car’s new owner may want to consider respraying the car, but it should be borne in mind that they will be starting from a solid base.
The chrome work is generally bright but the perfectionist might consider that there are some areas that could do with replacing, such as the bumpers.
The wheels look to be in good order and are shod with a set of matching Yokohama tyres. They have plenty of tread too, always a sign of careful ownership.
An unusual but much appreciated feature is the sliding steel sunroof, for that almost wind in the hair feeling.
The Audi also comes with a fitted car cover and was kept always kept in a garage with a dehumidifier.
