LOTUS ELAN SE TURBO (M100)

The Lotus M100 Elan was designed by Peter Stevens in 1986 and work began to turn his design into a car that could be built. This process was completed in just under three years, a remarkably short time from design to production car and it was launched in August 1989.

The little two-seater convertible sports car had front-wheel drive designed in-house by Lotus engineers and it utilised a 1.6 Litre Fi Engine and 5 Speed Manual Transmission supplied by Isuzu. The car was only built because General Motors bought Lotus in 1986 and this provided the financial backing (around £35M) to develop a new, small, affordable car in the same spirit as the original Elan last built in December 1972.

Just Arrived this absolutely stunning 1993 Lotus Elan SE Turbo was built by Lotus and first registered as a Lotus demonstrator on 4th January 1993 and was sold to its first owner in Kingswood, Surrey by Lotus dealer Bell & Colvill of West Horsley on 8th December 1993 with 9,700 miles on the clock for £22,500.

The car is finished in the lovely Pacific Blue Metallic over White with Gold SE Stripes and Gold bumpers, dark Grey Leather seats, Black Mohair Soft top, 1.6 Litre 16v Turbo Charged Isuzu-Lotus Engine, 5 Speed Manual Gearbox, Power Assisted Steering, Electric Windows and Mirrors, Sony Stereo/CD player and 16" Alloy Wheels.

It has now covered a genuine 54,470 miles with only 3 former keepers from new (including Lotus Cars) with the last owner having bought the car in 2003. During his ownership he has carried out lots of upgrades to the car and has spent a substantial sum with works including a new Windscreen + Surround and rubber seals, a Nitron Sports Suspension kit with Eiback Spings, new Federal spec 16" Alloy Wheels, Bosch 550 Fuel Injectors, Roll Bars/Hoops, specially made Stainless Steel Exhaust, Willwood Motorsport Brake Discs, Brake Calipers Hats, brackets and pads - front and rear, Ceramic coated downpipes, Silicon hoses, Alan Betts Gear cables with nylon bushes, Aasco Motorsports Flywheel and Clutch, Quaife ATB Differential, HKS Super SQV (Sequential Blow Off Valve) with top end Chrome pipe, Turbo Boost switch and now reputedly produces just over 200bhp - a rolling road test is going to be carried out to confirm the bhp.

The car has every single piece of history from new including its original Handbook/Manual - fully stamped service records, original Purchase Invoice from Bell & Colvill, a huge file of invoices, all old tax discs, Mot certificates from its first one in 1996 and various Lotus technical info and owners club correspondence.

This car is in exceptional condition throughout as well as underneath and looks stunning in this colour combination. With the upgrades carried out, it really is a fantastic car to drive and certainly not one of your average M100's for sure!

It has been in storage since 2016 and we have just finished recommissioning the car and preparing it for sale for the owner and given it a new MOT. It is clear on all HPi registers and the mileage is confirmed on the National Mileage Register.

Upon sale It will receive a pre-sales service and come with our own 6 Month Mechanical Warranty which can be upgraded and extended at additional cost if required.
