Description
Owned by a very good friend of Car-iconics, this Porsche 944 S2 has been the subject of what can only be described as a brilliant piece of engineering.
The gentleman in question has been building high-performance Cosworth Turbo engines for over 20 years a long side his friend Harvey Gibbs of SCS in Peterborough.
With Harvey’s help and use of his workshop and Dyno room, the engine in this car went through many stages of development but has finally finished up in a 3.0l 16 valve turbo format. That being said, its format is about the only determinable Porsche blueprint left as the engine’s internals have either been upgraded or re-engineered. Add then a Garrett turbocharger. a modern ECU and that resulted in 612bhp and 500lbs ft of torque. Mated to a 944 Turbo S 5 speed gearbox, the performance is quite literally eye-watering!
To keep all of this power under control, the car has been upgraded in other areas too. New KW V3 coil over suspension, all new poly bushes, ball joints and wheel bearings fitted. AP racing brakes fitted (6 pot front and 4 pot rear) with AP two-piece racing discs. Fully refurbished 10 inch 996 GT3 MK1 wheels with new Michelin Cup 2 tyres all round.
On the road this car is capable of both tootling to the shops or out-dragging the latest super cars.
Possibly the ultimate sleeper? We think so.
