Designed byMichael Mauer as the replacement for the 997, the seventh generation 991 bore the visual characteristics of theneunelfer but little similarity to its predecessor. Slightly larger, it looked more imposing; its wheelbase increasedby 100mm and the overall length by 56mm. A newly developed transaxle allowed the rear wheels to be moved76mm back from the engine which significantly improved the weight distribution and therefore corneringperformance. Use of high strength steel, aluminium and composites reduced the curb weight to 1,380kg. The carfeatured various power advancements, with improvements across every performance metric, reducing noisevibration harshness. The updates and weight reductions make the 991 generation vehicles lively and refreshingto drive, with up to 16% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions. The water-cooled flat six 991 was a morerefined, less raw 911 experience.
It is the first 911 to use predominantly aluminium construction. Reduced weight and increased power made theCarrera and Carrera S versions more powerful than their outgoing models. When equipped with optional SportsChrono Package, available for cars with PDK transmission, the Carrera S could accelerate to 60mph in 3.9seconds. The 7-speed manual transmission was an industry first.
The range initially launched with the Carrera and Targa models, alongside more powerful S versions. The baseCarrera and Targa had 350hp and a 3.4L engine. The Carrera S was more powerful, equipped with a 3.8L enginegenerating 50 extra horsepower and 325lb-ft torque. 7-speed manual was optional. The cabriolet was introducedlater that same year at the LA Motor Show. The Carrera 4 and 4S were added in 2013, with GTS, GT3, Turbo,Targa 4, Targa 4S, R, RS, and various special editions including the 50 th Anniversary and Club Coupe between2014 and 2016. Its body styles included fastback coupe, convertible, Targa top, and speedster. The impressivePorsche Doppelkupplung ‘PDK’ dual-clutch transmission was improved from the 997 and was optional for all 911Carreras and the 991.1 Turbo (Non-S). When equipped with the PDK, many car publications recorded the513hp/457lb-ft of torque Turbo S attaining 100km/h in 2.6 seconds.
The first phase, internally designated as 991.1, was produced until 2016, when it was updated as the 991.2; thesecond phase was only recently discontinued when the 992 was introduced in 2019.
Our immaculate 2014 Porsche 991 C4S sports a beautiful monochromatic colour scheme with metallic blackexterior and black leather interior, accented by striking red ceramic brake calipers. The all-wheel-drive Carreravariants are distinguished by wider tyres, marginally wider rear bodywork, and a red-reflector strip between thetaillights. They are equipped with a new variable all-wheel-drive system that sends power to the front wheels onlywhen necessary, giving the driver a sense of being in a rear-wheel-drive 911. As a PDK model, this C4S has aSport and Sport Plus button to activate different engine and transmission dynamics, making the throttle pedalmore responsive without losing power. Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and Porsche Active SuspensionManagement (PASM) augments its handling, and factory options such as heated sports seats add comfort. FullPorsche Service History.
