Service History
An incredibly rare mini indeed! The Cooper Mini miglia !Vortz Racing Cars was a company founded by Nick Vrotsos in 1965 and was famed for the "Maverick engineering" of mini for some 20 years before forming the Cooper car Co 84' . Nick "vortz" Vrotsos built just a handful of these cars in his own right as a constructor seperately from the British Leyland Factory's.
With this vehicle there is a rather interesting story. The car was originally built for Nick Vrotsos' father who initially hadnt shown much interest in Mini's due to having more time for the coventry climax engined Hillman Imp. This however changed when Nick employed his father as a test driver for the Minis he was producing at the time. As a result (and completely out of the blue) his father requested that Nick should build him a Miglia as it was the most enjoyable Mini he had driven.
PCC559R was subsequently built. based upon a 1977 Mini 1000 base car which was then presented in Austin Healey "signal" red with a black roof and with "Cooper Car Co" in writing down both sides.
Equiptment included: 100MPH speedo, smith rotary oil and water guages, red/grey Cooper S interior, 4 pot "Vortz" iorn brakes, Mk2 cooper grille, Mk2 rear numberplate holder and lamp, "Miglia" front and rear badges, twin 11/4 modified SU's and "Vortz" airbox and R-454 Exhaust system.
Today all of these items remain and the car is presented as well as ever. The interior has been subjected to the most recent work with the seats having been retrimmed into their original "Vortz" spec.
It really is a fun car to drive while also being an important part of "Mini" history.
