The S204 was developed over the course of 2005 by Subaru Technica International with experience gained from previous projects with former World Rally Champion Petter Solberg and Production Champion Toshi Arai. With only 600 examples produced for the Japanese market, the S204 featured a number of specially configured upgrades over a standard production model. Bespoke STi Pink suspension struts and dampers developed in collaboration with Yamaha were fitted to each corner of the car along with reinforced lowering springs, aluminium lateral arms, and 21mm STi pink anti roll bars. The engine consisted of balanced internals, high strength pistons, STi intercooler, reinforced engine mounts, silicon air intake duct and an air cooled oil cooler. A sports catalytic converter and a Titanium exhaust back box were also fitted to the car to aid the Twin Scroll VF42 Turbo which was carried over from the S203 along with a bespoke engine ECU, which brought a power increase to 320bhp.

On the interior, the S204’s would be fitted with Dry Carbon Fibre backed Recaro STi seats trimmed in both alcantara and leather, together with a bespoke gear knob, hazard light switch, matte black dashboard inserts and centre console. Switchgear would also receive a facelift and an aluminium gear knob boot were fitted to the cars, each engraved with the serial number of the car. The exterior features a number of bespoke items to the S204, HID headlights, a Carbon Fibre front splitter, redesigned unique rear spoiler, aluminium bonnet, and forged BBS Sti rims. Only 311 were completed in Crystal Grey Metallic, and the remaining being completed in WR Blue Mica and Obsidian Black.

This S204, number 086 was first registered on the 25th January 2006 by the Matsumoto approved STi dealership in Nagano Prefecture. The car was shortly after delivered to its first owner, Mr Isoda on the 5th February and it would remain in his ownership for 40k km’s until the end of 2008 where it was sold to Niihama, Ehime Prefecture. During the car's life in Niihama the car would only cover a further 18k km’s over six years, until the car would be sold at auction in Osaka with a Grade 4.5B.

The Japanese ownership of 086 would end in 2019, where it would be exported to the United Kingdom where the car has had one owner since being imported. The car benefited from an extensive service in June of 2020 which consisted of a timing belt replacement, Engine and Gearbox fluids being renewed, an uprated fuel pump fitted along with new Michelin PS4 tyres also applied to the car. The car would also be mapped for UK fuel shortly after. More recently, Rally Replay has completed the cars annual servicing requirements.

This presents a rare opportunity to purchase one of the finest products produced by Subaru Technica International, one of only 600 cars produced with input from Petter Solberg and Toshi Arai.
