2012 Ferrari

This isn’t the first time that the name ‘California’ has been designated to a car that bears the prancing horse. Flashback to 1957 and the 250 GT California was in production, designed to take on the V12 250GT for the American market.

Launched in 2008 the Ferrari California was the first Ferrari to feature a front mounted V8 engine, a dual clutch transmission and a fully retractable roof that electrically folds into its boot space. The California’s V8 engine (F136IB) was derived from the F430 (F136E) and produced 460 horsepower. The California 30 received an additional 30 horsepower from a further developed engine (F136IH) and the cars overall weight reduced by 30KG. Cars optioned with the Handling Speciale Package benefited stiffer springs, a more direct steering rack and aggressive settings for the magnetorhelogical dampers.
