Porsche 924 2.0L TURBO 2d 177 BHP
A remarkably rare right-hand drive example of Porsche's homologation special, previously owned by Lord Mexborough and Lord Bamford. Under the bonnet is a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four, delivering 207bhp to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. The car underwent a major service in September 2020 which cost in excess of £7,000 and included rebuilding the turbocharger and replacing the crankshaft. A comprehensive history file is included in the sale, as well as a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Released in 1980 to homologate the 924 for Group 4 competition requirements (though ultimately raced under the GTP category at Le Mans), the 924 Carrera GT was limited to 400 roadgoing units, of which just 75 right-hand drive examples were created for the UK market. This example is finished in black punctuated by red Carrera GT decals, over a black leatherette cabin complete with red piping and pinstriping on the cloth seat faces. It rides on a correct set of 16-inch black Fuchs alloy wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero tyres. Included in the sale is a comprehensive history file detailing maintenance work and past owners, the original stamped service book, driver's manual, Certificate of Authenticity, original Porsche Cars Great Britain CD, various letters from Porsche, MOT certificates, various historic tax discs, original decals, toolkit, warning triangle, spare wheel, and two keys. Factory specification: CONDITION There is no known prior bodywork damage. The paintwork is in good condition and is said to have been previously repainted. There is a small indentation on the bonnet, a few minor stone chips on the front end and wing mirrors, and a few minor blemishes on the side sills. Moving inside, the original cabin is in excellent order, showing no rips or tears in the upholstery, and only a little wear on the gear knob commensurate with the age of the vehicle. The car was last serviced in April 2022 at 42,600 miles by ZRS Engineering, who changed the engine oil and filter, gearbox oil, air filter and fuel filter. They also removed and repaired the wastegate control line, replaced the boost pipe seals, and repaired a sticking rear calliper. Prior to this, Porsche specialist Heritage Autowerks serviced the vehicle in September 2020 and carried out several other maintenance tasks at a total cost of £7,195. This included replacing the engine oil and filter, fan belt, top and bottom end gasket sets, timing belt, turbo sealing gaskets, turbo gasket, brake master cylinder and crankshaft. They also rebuilt the turbocharger and fitted four new tyres. Riverside RPE carried out a major service in October 2019 and replaced the engine oil and filter, battery, spark plugs, air filter, intercooler gasket, rotor arm, and HT leads. They also fitted a new timing belt kit.
