1985 Ford

An absolute rarity, and clearly one for the Ford aficionado who appreciates extreme originality.

The Mk3 Ford Escort Special Edition Cabriolet (SE), also known as the All-White and/or Christmas Edition, were only produced in very limited numbers.

The data weve found tells us that only 90 cars were ever registered in the UK, but as of today, that same data lists only 2 cars with V5 documents - both of which are SORN and one of those must be our car.

This super-rare SE model featured much of the trim from the Mk3 RS Turbo, XR3 and Series One, including the body kit from the Turbo model. This limited edition car had no extra electrics or bumper over-riders, and was only available in white, with a white roof and white Pepperpot style hubcaps (the clue is in the name!). The interior was two-tone grey with blue piping.

Our particular car is totally original with a warranted 27k miles and is superbly solid.

Most of these cars were modified by their owners, fitting different alloys and RS decals, but not this one. Its 100% exactly as it left the factory. Were confident that the car has never been painted or welded, and nor will it need any welding. Admittedly, there are marks and blemishes around the bodywork, but we wanted to leave the car as we found it, offering the new owner the ability to decide how to progress with it.

Looking around the car, originality can be seen everywhere - the exhaust is original with the Ford stamp in plain view, the stereo, slam panel, front wings, number plates, even under the bonnet where the jubilee clips are the original Ford items, its all there just as it was back in 1985!

With only 3 previous owners, the car was taken off the road in 2014 and correctly stored before being MOTd in 2020 and sold to the current owner.

Once in our possession, we have fully serviced the car. We ran it through an MOT and dealt with all the issues found, but stopped short of completing a new MOT as the car is still rolling on its original Dunlop SP tyres. If we did MOT it, these tyres would have to be replaced, so we await the new owners instructions as to what they would want us to do, as a new MOT with no advisories can be completed at their request.

The car comes complete with the original 1985 sales booklet (publication number FA794), Operating Supplement, Ford Motorists Guide, Stereo Manual, and original Service Record booklet.
