This Ford Mustang Mach 1 is an iconic American muscle car, which has been comprehensively restored. It is powered by a rebuilt, numbers-matching 351ci V8 (5.8-litre) Cleveland power unit, coupled to the refurbished original 'FMX' automatic gearbox. Built at the Dearborn Ford plant in June 1970 and first registered in the UK in 1972. This Mach 1 was originally delivered to Bob Erb Ford in Mentor, Ohio. Specced in yellow paint (Code D) with the contrasting black hood stripe - both of which the car still wears today, along with black clarion knit/corinthian vinyl bucket seat and Cruise-O-Matic transmission and power steering. This Mach 1 is accompanied by a wealth of receipts and evidence of the car's history - including MOT history dating back to 2004, plus photos of work undertaken. Today, mechanically and aesthetically - the car is perfect, after receiving subtle authentic upgrades over the years. The car has benefitted from a full respray with new chrome and stainless steel trims all around in the last 15 years, plus a new windscreen along with front and rear seals. The car currently sits on 15x7 Torq Thrust D wheels. 1970 Mustang Mach 1 Sportsroof 351with factory options consisting from supplied build sheet - Yellow paintwork (Ford 3470- A) Black Clarion knit/ Corinthian Vinyl Bucket seats, FMX Cruise-O-Matic transmission, Black hood stripe, Belted White sidewall tyres, Sport deck rear seat, Power steering and AM Radio Under the hood, the 351ci 2-barrel engine is very sharp and responsive, has none or very little crankcase compression. The mechanical balance of the engine and the firing pulses/compression balances of the engine is extremely even, thus giving it a very smooth idle and responsive bottom-end torque. The "Cruise-O-Matic" automatic gearbox has been rebuilt, new power steering pump and hoses, radiator, uprated front and rear sway bars, heater matrix and hoses, and Flaming River steering box. SSBC power disc brakes have been fitted to the front, Koni shocks have been fitted all-round and re-tempered 5 leaf springs and new front springs, plus this Mustang Mach 1 boasts a custom made stainless steel exhaust and Petronix Flame-Thrower II coil. Electronic ignition has been fitted and timed to this individual engine, further enhancing its ease of starting and smooth idle and power delivery. The carburettor has also received heavy attention - with a new float valve, float setting and full clean out and reset. The wood interior has been recently wax oiled throughout, the dashboard is in very good condition - with no splits to report, with period-correct Mach 1 seat covers fitted, the carpets and sound-proofing have been replaced, along with new sun visors and fittings. Between 2005 and 2012, the original dash clock was sent to the U.S. to be repaired - a charming feature of this Mach 1. The roof lining is in very good condition with the interior lights and AM radio all in working order, with new inertia seatbelts fitted.
