Original UK RHD Car | Beautifully Restored | Matching Heritage | Exceptional Condition Throughout | ULEZ Compliant Few cars capture the spirit of 1960s motoring quite like the Jaguar E-Type — described by Enzo Ferrari himself as “the most beautiful car in the world.” This exquisite Series 1½ 4.2 Roadster represents one of the most iconic shapes ever produced, combining British craftsmanship with timeless performance and style. Provenance & Early History This particular car — Chassis No: 1E1738 / Engine No: 7E4424-9 — is an original UK right-hand drive example, supplied new by HR Owen, London, and first registered on 6th July 1967 under registration PLE 559E. While little is known of its early years, records indicate the car’s engine was replaced under Jaguar dealer warranty early in its life. According to an HPI report, the original colour was Blue, changed to Red in 1979. Restoration & Maintenance History In January 1989, the car was purchased by its fifth owner from Midland Sporting & Classic Cars Ltd, Burton-on-Trent, for £29,750. Following an inspection by Jaguar specialist A.J. Turner of Redhill, it was sent to Reliance Motors, Wolverhampton for a major restoration. Works included: Replacement boot floor, heel board, chassis rails, and full floor panels Repaired sills and complete repaint New suspension components, drive shaft UJs, brake and clutch hydraulics, and new clutch Upon completion, the car was MOT’d at 79,868 miles. The car saw minimal use over the next decade, spending much of that time in storage. In June 2001, it was entrusted to Barclay Classics of Swansea for a comprehensive engine rebuild and mechanical recommissioning, totalling 334 hours of work. Invoices and time sheets detail this restoration, which cost just under £14,000, including parts supplied by SC Parts and XK Engineering. Following completion in July 2002, the mileage stood at 80,579 miles. Later that year, the car was offered at Bonhams, Olympia and purchased by its sixth owner. During his six-year ownership, he invested a further £7,695, including: New carpets and interior trim New lighting units and headlamp glass Original E-Type toolkit (sourced from the USA) New brake calipers, alternator, dash switches, and chrome trims Current Ownership We sold the car to the current and seventh owner in October 2008 with 81,785 miles showing on the speedo and he has cherished this E-Type for the past 17 years, keeping it in a heated garage and maintaining it to a very high standard. Around £10,000 has been spent on routine maintenance and mechanical care during this period, though the car has covered less than 2,000 miles in that time. Now showing a believed genuine 82,825 miles from new — with just 2,246 miles since its engine rebuild — this E-Type remains in superb mechanical and cosmetic condition throughout. Condition & Driving Experience Finished in Carmen Red with a black mohair hood and black leather interior, this Series 1½ presents beautifully. The 4.2-litre straight-six engine delivers the signature smooth torque and effortless pull for which these cars are renowned, paired with the 4-speed manual gearbox and fully independent suspension. This example sits on 15'' chrome wire wheels and benefits from power-assisted disc brakes, stainless steel exhaust, poly-bushed suspension, and a battery cut-off switch. A hood cover is also included. Documentation & Features The car comes with a comprehensive history file, including: Numerous invoices and parts receipts MOT certificates (from 2001 onwards) Historic Tax Discs Original Jaguar E-Type handbook, workshop manual, and parts list Jaguar Heritage Certificate Sales brochures and historical documents This is a UK-supplied, matching-heritage example in superb order — a genuine collector’s car that remains a joy to drive. Sale Details Upon sale, the E-Type will receive: A comprehensive pre-sales service A new MOT (though exempt) A 6-month mechanical warranty (extendable on request) This vehicle is ULEZ compliant, MOT and Road Tax exempt, and classed as a Historic Vehicle.
