LOTUS 340R (340-001 Chassis 006 - Lotus PR Car) 2000

Hofmann's are privileged to offer this beautiful and now very rare & collectable Lotus 340R - but no ordinary 340R, this car is Edition Number 340-001, only the 3rd vehicle off the production line and was first registered to Lotus Cars for Press & PR use.

Having covered a mere 32744 miles in its 22 years, this special 340R has very recently undergone a full 'Body Off' refresh and major service during which new front brakes were fitted, along with braded lines all round, a brand-new Pro Ally radiator and hoses were fitted and both front to rear oil lines were replaced.  While the body was off it was sent for a full professional respray in the original factory colours of Grey metallic over Black metallic. The interior was too shown the same level of care and attention to detail with new factory Alcantara and correct embroidered Lotus emblem to accompany the unmarked trims and fascias & Safety Devices roll hoop. 

Wearing its original, unmarked Tecnomagnesium wheels with new Toyo R888 R's and early Carbon arches , this stunning limited edition car presents in near perfect condition inside and out with only minor wear visible to certain components and, is accompanied by a great history file including the Lotus Certificate of Provenance & certificate of conformity, service history and all original book/pack, factory 190bhp performance upgrade, plus a fitted indoor car cover, tonneau cover and upgraded Stack dash incorporating a digital lap timer. 

First registered on 20th January 2000 to Lotus Cars UK and their 'Company Car'  this 340R spent the early part of its life as a PR and Press car for the manufacturer, after which it resided in the UK before being moved to Italy in 2008, During its time in Europe the car was maintained by Lotus agents and specialists before it was repatriated to the UK in 2018 and the recommissioning could begin. . 

The Lotus 340R - *A zero compromise concept that made it through to production, One of just 340 built, interesting and unusual Built by Lotus in 2000 as the ultimate track-day car, the 340R is a special edition based on the Lotus Elise and uses the Elise's bonded aluminium mid-engine chassis, basic running gear, and a 1.8litre Rover VHPF ‘K' Series engine, 191 bhp. Performance was exceptional with 0-60mph in just over 4 seconds and 100mph arriving in 10.7 seconds. Just 340 were built sharing the same silver and black colour scheme and all were sold before manufacture. Despite looking like a dedicated track day special, a role at which it excels, it's fully road legal and delivers a level of ride comfort totally unexpected in such a performance-focused car.
