MAZDA MX-5 (NC) 2.0 SPORT 2005

2005/55 Mazda MX-5 Mk3 NC1 2.0 Sport with hardtop in Moonlight Silver.

136k miles. 6-speed manual gearbox, black leather/heated seats. Soft-top, with original factory hardtop with custom storage bag. Just two prior owners, I’ve had it since January 2016. Big history file. Everything works, uses no oil, air con blows cold, drives beautifully. MoT to October 2023, no advisories. Happy to discuss a fresh MoT.

Good bits:

Undersealed from early in its life (first owner, as wasn’t done by me or the second).

-30mm Eibach springs (originals to come with car) on factory yellow Bilstein dampers, which were replaced with ones from an NC3 that had done 10k. Front lower and upper wishbones replaced, custom geometry (wheel alignment) by Spires Tuning.

A few minor upgrades: clear indicators / stubby aerial / Voodoo gearknob / JVC co-axial door speaker upgrade / NC2 oil dipstick / RX-8 intermittent wiper stalk / factory boot liner. NC2 seatbelt guides. All original parts still retained except door speakers (they were mouldy).

All four wheels refurbished and brand new tyres fitted all round last year (about 2000 miles ago). Front right caliper replaced at this time. Prior to this, new discs and pads rear axle (2021) front axle (2020) with slider pins replaced/refurbed etc at the time.

Other bits replaced / sorted in my ownership: battery box and battery, exhaust mid-pipe and rear muffler, driver's door locking actuator (again just this month), spark plugs and coolant change. Oil changed every year regardless of mileage. Replaced auxiliary belt (front of engine).

Bad bits: usual sleepy seatbelt on driver’s side. Rust on the left rear wheel arch - this is by far the worst of it; not picked up on many MoTs. Some marks on the rear quarter from when I learned the hard way that when your wife is pregnant, you can’t remove the hardtop alone. Bodywork exhibits the patina you’d expect on a car approaching its 18th birthday. Interior is in good shape, again with a few marks as you might expect.
