The time has come to part ways with my trusty and much loved Volvo 850 GLT T5 (manual). Brought my daughter home from hospital in it as a new born ~ 7 years ago. So it has sentimental attachment for the entire family. Bog standard (apart from polybush top engine mount) with a list below of work done on it.

Kids love it - it makes a lovely warbly noise on acceleration LOL.

So, if anyone wants a reliable, moderately quick and mechanically well looked after family estate car then this could work for you.

Won't lie it's not the prettiest (dent in drivers side front wing and the laquer has gone on the bonnet and roof) but it’s galvanised, solid and it works. Lots of door dings too over the 27 years. But it's never bothered me to sort it as (to me) it's not about what it looks like. More important to me that it starts, goes, doesn't rot and doesn't let me down.

Recently I did an engine service (oil and all filters). So this is as you can see totally unplanned!

Selling only because my wife (who is doing long motorway journeys in it) has developed tendinitis in her left leg. This is an unusual T5 in that it’s a 5 speed manual gearbox and it’s too much for her.

Replacing with an automatic Volvo S80. Should be with us by the end of August.

Looking for £1999 was £2.5k GBP which is a steal for these. Do some bodywork and it will increase in value. HowManyLeft suggests 56 running - how many of these are manual is anyone's guess.

It’s done 176k miles and will do a little more as it’s an everyday car.

Air conditioning blows cold too.

So here goes the list of work I've done since I bought it some ~ 8 years ago:

All the engine mounts top and bottom

Heater matrix

Distributor cap, rotor arm, leads, plugs

Fuel pump

Cambelt, tensioner and pulleys, waterpump

Discs and pads all the way round (Greenstuff on Brembo discs on the front)

New shocks all the way round

Rear rubber top mounts

New headlight bodies

New front indicator lenses

Good secondhand drivers inertia seatbelt reel

Brake hoses front and rear

Things that don't work are:

Heated seat on the driver's side

Heat element in driver's door mirror

One or other of the headlight wiper motors

The original windscreen washer pump has been bypassed (can hear it running mind you!)

Added some more photos as I've just had it blitzed inside and out - and I forgot - I did the gas struts for the rear hatch (So, be careful on opening it. Up it goes!) - and a new Bosch battery. In the summer it had a tow hitch professionaly installed.

Mileage will increase as it is in regular use while I sort the S80 out.
