"Throughout my 40+ years as a journo, I've been blessed with the opportunity to drive a wide variety of 'interesting' machines, some of which were memorable for all the wrong reasons. This 930 backdate, however, will remain imprinted on the memory for being one of the finest builds I've had the pleasure to experience. It feels tight, it looks a million dollars and goes like the proverbial. 911 & Porsche World January 2018 :- A fully documented restoration Restomod, based on a 1986 930 Turbo, conducted over a period of 3 years by Jon Miller (2015- 2018) and his team at Classic Carreras in Ireland to showcase the business. Built without a budget, a timescale or a customers preference - making this a unique, meticulous detailed and fastidiously prepared and presented one-off example. The engine is a 3.3 litre, approx 360 BHP, K27:29 Hybrid, 1 Bar boost spring, Equal length headers, SC cams, lightweight aluminium flywheel, Classic retrofit CDI + ignition system The Gearbox is a G50 5 Speed (shortened bell housing), Quaife LSD, KEP Stage 1 pressure plate, Standard friction plate, Rennline short shift kit, Raised centre tunnel. The Suspension is Tractive Touring Line ACE semi-active suspension, Raised front spindles (19mm), Rose Jointed track rod ends, Weltmeister anti-roll bars and drop links, Elephant racing rear ASP trailing arms, Factory 4 pot callipers over factory discs, Powerflex polycarbonate bushes. The Body is Finished in period correct Chartreuse (Lime Green), with a 'Fully documented restoration photography book' Aluminium bonnet with custom fuel filler, Reinforced suspension turrets, All steel RSR arches, Through the sill oil lines, Front mount oil cooler, Sunroof delete, Front end PPF protection. The Interior has Recaro Rallye III seats, Black Connolly bull hide, Porsche Lime Green tartan, Heated seats, Custom door pulls, Early style dashboard instruments, Salt and Pepper carpet, Racing 370mm Prototipo steering wheel. The Wheels are Custom Group 4 Campagnola alloys (by Platinum Alloys - Swindon), 8x15" fronts and 10x15" rears, Michellin TB15 tyres cut slicks, 225/55 R 15 Front - 270/45 R 15 Rear. Having only now covered 8867 miles from its rebuild, following updates at Maundrells including:- Full suspension and engine mount Proflex polybushes, balance and geometry set-up, modified gear linkage, wheel refurbishment, Prototipo steering wheel, and installation of TracTive Touring Line ACE semi-active suspension. 2 Full services 21 22, Corner weighted, Geometry set-up, Sound deadening installed, Gearbox linkage modified, Throttle cable released, New wheel bearings, New Alternator, New Emergency spare wheel. The 930 era of Porsche 911 has always had a reputation of being a tricky car to master on the limit, it likes to only be driven one way and will punish drivers who make mistakes, especially the turbo versions. Steve's restomod on the TracTive suspension is an absolute revelation. I can categorically say it is the most composed, sure footed, confidence-inspiring and compliant 911 of that era I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
