The Fiat 500 Jolly by Ghia epitomises the 1960s beach party lifestyle, with sandy beaches across the Mediterranean being littered with hundreds of the ‘Jolly de Plage’, or Joker of the Beach! Based upon the dependable mechanicals of the Fiat 500, coachbuilder Ghia set about transforming the “people’s car” into a dune-buggy like vehicle, capable of withstanding the sandy and wet conditions of the beach lifestyle.

500 Jollys became immensely popular among the members of the jet-set, often finished in bright, eye-catching colours, they looked perfectly at home on the streets of resort towns or parked in the port next to a superyacht!

This particular car that we are delighted to offer for sale was born in 1970 as a 110F 500L but has since been freshly restored and converted to ‘Jolly’ specification by marque experts in Italy. It is finished in the eye-catching combination of Red paintwork over a Rattan wicker interior and is complete with a cream fabric sun shade. Details include dual chrome side mirrors, chrome bumpers and trim, and a louvered engine lid. It rides on a set of 12” steel wheels with chrome hubcaps and iconic whitewall tires.

The car was completed in August, 2023 and transported from Italy to the United Kingdom. This Fiat 500L Jolly Recreation is a bright and freshly restored example and a charming tribute to the idiosyncratic ‘Jolly’ beach car.
