Intro
This car was first registered on the 30th December 2009. It is a proper Cup model, identifiable by the black door inserts and mirrors, front fog light delete and omission of some interior comforts (keyless entry, climate control, auto lights/wipers etc). However, this car does have air conditioning and the excellent and very desirable ‘yellow dot’ Recaro front seats. Being a proper Cup it weighs less than a ‘full fat’ Clio 200 and had a different factory suspension set up, intended to appeal to the more driver focussed audience and is rarer than the more common ‘full fat’ version - especially in stunning Alien Green. I understand it to be one of just 18 AG Cup cars in the UK, and a similar spec car with Recaro seats, GT spoiler and Speedline wheels is rarer still.
I have owned the car since February 2019 and purchased it from K-Tec Racing in Dorset. At that time previous owners had completed a majority of the upgrades currently fitted and I have continued to enhance the fast road/occasional track set up during my ownership. It drives brilliantly on the road and works really well on track, thanks to its trick tyres and Bilstein suspension. In my opinion the upgrades fitted have enhanced the overall driving experience, but enough of the car remains stock for it to be easily insurable and desirable to a collector seeking a standard car – it wouldn’t take much to make the car totally factory standard if the new owner desires.
Performance upgrades
• Akraprovic stainless steel exhaust with custom stainless mid section and sports cat – no problems with MOT emissions unlike the full Akrapovic Evo cat delete system. Sounds great when on full throttle but very civilised when cruising. Doesn’t drone or boom like many cheaper systems and gives the occasional pop when lifting off from higher revs, which is nice. An excellent system that gives the benefit of some extra noise, torque and BHP while remaining very suitable for everyday road use. The tailpipes are finished with a subtle carbon surround.
• K-Tec Racing induction kit with correct cold air intake heatshield. Purchased when I took ownership of the car to compliment the existing Akrapovic exhaust system fitted by the previous owner. Nice induction noise without it being too noticeable and professionally installed by K-Tec at their Blandford workshop.
• K-Tec custom remap to make benefit of the induction and exhaust upgrades resulting in 198.9HP @6550rpm and a useful 174.9lb-ft @5200rpm (printout in vehicle file). Makes a real difference to the drivability of the car as the F4R isn’t best known for its torque output - this re map in conjunction with the exhaust and induction upgrades goes along way to addressing this.
• K-Tec Group N engine and gearbox mounts – a direct replacement for the OEM parts which often fail.
Handling and exterior upgrades
• The previous owner fitted a Bilstein B14 coilover suspension kit to the car which can lower the ride height between 10-30mm. Currently set up at the higher end of this adjustability (approx. 15mm) the suspension is perfect for fast road use above anything else but the lower ride height improves handing if used on track. It is a firm ride but still comfortable and pliant enough to complete longer journeys without feeling fatigued. It is a good addition to the already excellent Clio chassis.
• 19mm wheel spacers are fitted and really enhance the stance of this car. The wheels fill the arches nicely and it has real presence – a subtle change that makes a big aesthetic difference in my opinion. Complete with proper extended wheel bolts including lockers.
Interior
• The Recaros are in very good condition, with no holes or rips and very minimal wear on the bolster. A desirable factory option on these cars and offer great support and comfort.
• Re-trimmed steering wheel in grey alcantara.
• RenaultSport billet aluminium gear shifter
• 197 rear seats - more comfortable than the standard Cup items as these have headrests.
• While it is a basic spec compared to non cup models (less to go wrong in my opinion), the interior is in superb condition overall with no damage and very little signs of wear.
Bodywork
• The standout feature of this car is, of course, the Alien Green paint. It really is stunning and if you haven’t seen one in person before then it may surprise you how much depth this metallic colour has. Depending on the lighting environment it changes - appearing quite gold under red streetlights and almost aqua blue in some LED lighting. But in normal sunlight it is unmistakably bright green, and Alien Green is a very appropriate name for the colour.
• The bodywork is in excellent order all round, and benefits from having a front end respray earlier this year. This was done to correct stone chips on the front bumper and a small amount of lacquer peel on the front near side wing. To ensure a seamless finish the near side door, n/s wing, bonnet, front bumper and offside wing were all professionally painted, including the black bumper inserts. I challenge anyone to criticise this work, as the guy who did it is an absolute perfectionist and has done a superb job. The rear wiper delete was also done at this time but I have retained the mechanism and can be refitted if required.
• I am very proud to have kept this car in such good condition and this was recognised at the 2023 ClioSport Festival where it got the accolade of second best in show, even pipping a museum grade super low mileage AG Clio to a prize. I doubt you’ll find another similar mileage car that is in this good condition - it is genuinely stunning.
Wheels, tyres and brakes
• The ‘Y’ spoke Speedline wheels are immaculate and have recently been fully refurbished in the correct satin black. This was done due to a small bit of corrosion around each of the valves and not because it’s been bouncing from kerb to kerb! These wheels were a factory option and look perfect on this Alien Green car, especially with the red Brembo calipers sitting behind.
• The car benefits from having brand new Brembo high carbon front discs and pads and recently fitted braided front brake lines. The fluid was changed for motorsport spec stuff at the same time and the rear calipers were also refurbished and repainted. The front Brembo calipers have been stripped and serviced during my ownership and they perform exceptionally well.
• Two brand new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2‘s are fitted on the front and the rear Cup 2’s have done less than 500 miles, so are as good as new.
• When I purchased the car it was fitted with Cup 2 tyres and I was gobsmacked at how good they performed, so I have continued to buy these tyres when they need replacing. These super sticky tyres are not to be underestimated - they transform this car and give it unparalleled levels of grip - under steer does not exist. They even work in colder temperatures (given time to warm through) and provide huge amounts of confidence on dry roads. Even in wet conditions (my OCD means this is a very rare event) the tyres still work well and I often forget they are a track focussed rubber.
• The car also comes with a spare set of immaculate Clio 197 wheels recently refurbished in gloss black, also fitted with used Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. The tread depth is road legal on all tyres but they have been used once on track and have suffered a bit as a result.
Service history
I have a huge folder full of receipts, service records and MOT history. Current mileage is 77,680 and dash computer says 11,000 miles until next service is due. The service book has 11 stamps from dealer and specialists and the cam belt has been changed twice, most recently in 2020.
Service history:
• 30/12/2009 Date of first registration
• 26/3/2011 @ 8426

In 2020 the car had an extensive suspension refresh/service and many worn parts were replaced. The car still feels good for this and regular maintenance has kept it in good order.
In preparation for the Nov 2023 MOT the car had both inner steering arms replaced, new front discs and pads and all engine and gearbox mounts replaced.
I have receipts for thousands and thousands of pounds for general maintenance to keep this car in A1 working order. If it needs anything it gets done, regardless of cost. If you would like further detail of the expense and work completed during my ownership then please get in touch.
Additional information
• Six previous owners. Two remote keys. Full set of owner manuals and complete jack set in the boot along with two cans of emergency tyre weld.
• It is sold with a fresh MOT with ZERO advisories and has had a recent once over by my mechanic who has assured me everything is in very good order underneath.
• These cars are known for suffering from gearbox issues and I’m pleased to confirm that the box is good and was checked over by Ren-o-Tec last year when the car was serviced.
• I run the car on V-Power fuel only and is nearly always garaged. It also has a custom fit outside car cover for the rare occasion it stays outside.
• I also have an original RenaultSport sales brochure which features an AG car and details the options available when new - a nice thing to have.
• Track use has been limited to just one track day during my ownership was fastidiously prepped beforehand. Performed really well and has not suffered in the slightest for this one time excursion.
• Private plate J5TFL will be removed from the car before sale and the VRM will revert back to DF59EHY.
