Ford GT

There is nothing more synonymous with racing than a Ford GT40. Famous for winning the battle with Ferrari for the coveted Le Man 24Hr trophy. To mark their centenary Ford wanted a ‘special’ car using the GT40 as inspiration, and so from the pen of Chief Designer, Camilo Pardo, at Ford’s Living Legends Studio, emerged the ‘GT40 Concept car’ with guidance from J.Mays and development by Carroll Shelby. Three concept cars were revealed in 2003 at the commemoration of Ford’s centenary. Production of customer cars started in late 2004. The car now known simply as Ford GT was produced through 2005 and 2006 with a total of 4038 cars being built. 100 were destined for Europe with just 28 cars allocated to UK customers. One of those customers was equally synonymous with Ford and racing, Alan Mann. Alan Mann Racing is an iconic racing team of the 1960’s employing leading drivers of the time such as, Jacky Ickx, Graham Hill, Sir Jackie Stewart and Bruce Mclaren. Invited by Ford to race their Cortina’s at the Marlboro 12 Hr race in the USA, the Alan Mann prepared Willment and Andrews team beat the factory Falcons and inspired Alan Mann to setup Alan Mann Racing in 1964, starting a long and successful association with Ford.Alan took delivery of his Ford GT in July 2005. In keeping with his unique relationship with Ford Alan’s car was delivered Mark IV Red without a stripe, but with the addition of ‘Alan Mann Racing’ livery and the optional lightweight Forged Aluminium BBS wheels making this a very individual Ford GT.In 2007 Alan sold this car to its second owner who has cherished the car ever since. The history file that accompanies the car details every service and MOT through his ownership. Servicing has been carried out by Ford Specialist Mountune and GT101. The history file also includes the original order signed by Alan Mann. Now with its odometer reading 12354 miles this unique Ford GT is available to view at Dick Lovett Sporting Cars in Swindon. It will be delivered with the complete history file, book pack, service book, a full service, MOT and car cover.
