Caterham Super Seven Superlight 1.8 R300 S3 - Number 86 - McLaren Orange

Exceptional condition original Caterham Seven Superlight number 86. Originally registered under W945EBW, currently on C7LYT. Original 1.6 engine has been upgraded to a Caterham factory provided R300 1.8 unit. Three previous keepers on the V5C, with the third owner for 15 years (2005 - 2020).

Recently rebuilt by engineer Paul Roberts who is second to none in sympathetically refreshing Caterhams to extremely high standards, number 86 has benefited from a refurbished Arch chassis with immaculate powder coating and new body panels, freshly painted in McLaren (Aztec) Orange by TSK (Caterham factory outsourced paintshop). With this major expenditure taken care of and hence having zero corrosion between body and chassis, this example is essentially as new in the areas which really matter. Also fitted with several new parts including battery, alternator, fan, cambelt, hoses etc. The paintwork is virtually flawless with no swirl marks, very few chips and the colour absolutely pops in the sunshine. The carbon wheel arches and nosecone are in excellent order with a lovely dark black shine.

The R300 K series engine is known to be the sweet spot between higher power output at the cost of frequent engine maintenance and expensive rebuilds associated with the R500 and to a lesser extent, the R400. With approximately 160bhp as specified, this Superlight is very fast in a manageable way, without being being completely bonkers!
