Lotus Elise 16V

ARRIVING SHORTLY The Elise is a legend of the sports car world, and was on sale in its three iterations for a quarter of a century. The second of these (the S2) appeared in 2000, mostly as a response to more stringent crash safety regulations. Some say the original S1 cars are prettier, with their curvier body and more wide-eyed headlights, but the S2 is undoubtedly still a looker. It’s also more practical than the S1, with a roof that's easier to put up, lower sills to make entry and egress a trifle more dignified, and a more understeer-biased chassis set-up makes it less prone to unwanted hedge visits. In 2004, Lotus switched motive power from the light and soulful 1.8-litre Rover K Series engine to the more robust but slightly heavier 1.8-litre Toyota ZZ-GE unit, though the 189hp 111R version more than helped to offset the weight deficit. Yet whatever engine was dropped in behind the seats, the Elise S2 is always sublime to drive. There are many different versions of the Elise S2 as there are days in a month, but whichever one you’ve set your sights on, you can rest assured you’ll be driving an example of peak combustion-engine sports car. Supplied new by H R Owen in Canary Wharf, London to its first owner on 21st June 2001. The specification and options list is as high as you could possibly get at the time + some later additions and a list of the specification is shown in the attached documents, prepared by the owner, including a clear HPi check and HPI certificate. It also has an EEC Certificate of Conformity and it is fitted with a CAT 1 Meta Alarm System. The car was serviced by Lotus dealer Bell & Colvill on 16th November 2023 @ 74,121 miles, and again earlier this year we understand. There are Two ring binders full of service records and documentation and all properly catalogued along with its original sales brochures. The first Owner kept this car from new until November last year when it was only sold because he was moving house and had nowhere to keep it, so we sold it for him to a lady customer. She has hardly driven it, as she finds it too difficult to drive, so its coming back in to us for sale. This car is in exceptional condition throughout with an unbelievable full service history file including a fully stamped service book with 23 stamps (serviced every year) plus two ring binders Upon sale, the car will come with a new 12 month MOT and our own standard 3 month mechanical warranty, but this can be upgraded and extended at additional cost if required.
