Description
Here is my Landcruiser HDJ80 for sale. The truck is a UK 1995 12-valve manual (the very last of the 12 valve models). I purchased this one as it was the perfect spec for me - 12 valve engine (simpler and more mid range torque than the 24 valve), manual gearbox for better fuel economy and control, fabric seats which seem to last better than leather and my favourite colour. The truck has the extra row of seats in the back which are included, I never use them so they are currently in the garage.
Over the last year the truck has had a huge amount of work done on it to get it just so. This includes:
New timing belt and tensioner
New front axle CV joints and inner axle oil seals
One front wheel bearing replaced and the other cleaned and repacked with grease
New radiator, top and bottom hoses and coolant
New ACL big end bearings and genuine Toyota stretch bolts
New full exhaust (right from the turbo back including all new mountings)
Several oil and filter changes
New BFG All terrain tyres (which have now done less than 5000 miles)
New steering relay rod end ball joint
New coil springs all round, 20% stronger than the originals and powder coated blue
New rear shock absorbers
New rear brake discs and pads
Changed brake fluid
As listed, the all-important big end bearings have been changed for upgraded ACL bearings and new Toyota stretch bolts were used. This is a vital thing to check for on any 12-valve 80 series and the old parts have been retained to prove that the job has been done. There is an extensive folder of service history and three keys. The MOT expires 31/07/2014 and the tax expires 31/12/2013.
The only real negative point is the gearbox has slightly weak synchros on 1st and 2nd so works best with double declutching when changing down into these gears. Changing down through the other gears is fine and changing up through the box is also fine.
This truck is very solid and reliable and has never failed to start within half a turn of the engine. It is unstoppable in the snow and has recently returned from taking five people camping round the Pyrenees and drove the length of France without incident. I have averaged about 30mpg over the time I have owned it. I am selling the truck as I never use its off-road capability so am now looking for a smaller 4x4 car which is better for long motorway trips and day to day use.
Please feel free to ring me for any more information about the truck, any more pictures and to arrange a viewing.
