Overview
The challenge of trying to do everything at once is something that carmakers have grappled with from time immemorial. Yes, most cars exist within niches (sports cars do sporty things, off-roaders do off-roady things and so on), but there’s always been a keenness for manufacturers to create a car that can wear a lot of conceptual hats at once – after all, not everyone’s got room (or funds) for a whole collection of cars, it’s an attractive notion to have a proper all-rounder.
The second-gen Mini Countryman Cooper S is a machine that achieves this with flair. It’s a big and practical car, but nottoobig; it’s impressively rapid, and entertainingly agile too. The hybrid drivetrain assures your modern-day green credentials, while the cabin is tastefully appointed and extremely well equipped.
In LCI form (which is BMW-speak for a facelift, it stands for Life Cycle Impulse), the F60 Countryman was artfully freshened up from the 2020 model year onward, with a comprehensively upgraded interior, revised grilles and bumpers, attractive new wheel designs, Union Jack taillights, and switchback LED DRL/indicators.
The Cooper S E spec offered an intelligent plug-in hybrid drivetrain, the 134bhp 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine augmented by an 87bhp electric motor for a combined output of 221bhp. Mated to a 6-speed auto transmission and the ALL4 all-wheel-drive system, it’s an impressive setup indeed. (Fun fact: the B38 3-pot motor is essentially the same as the one you’d find in the spaceship-like BMW i8 sports car.)
The Countryman Cooper S E we have here features some tasteful aesthetic upgrades from the Mini Yours luxury programme. It’s had two owners from new, with the current owner having only covered around 2000 miles in the last six months. Fully loaded with toys, it’s beautifully presented and, once serviced, ready to enjoy.

Summary
These Countrymans (Countrymen?), as luxurious and lavishly equipped as they may be, were vehicles intended primarily for utility over cherishing and pampering. So finding one thathasbeen cherished and pampered is really quite something.
From top to toe, inside and out, this is a delightfully presented example: that quilted leather offers a wonderfully luxurious feel, while the effervescent yet frugal drivetrain and sure-footed all-wheel-drive setup mean that it’ll be ready to do whatever you want it to: it’ll be quick, it’ll be sensible, it’ll be rugged, whatever you need. And with those stylish Mini Yours aesthetics, it really cuts a dash too, doesn’t it?
