EXTERIOR
Having been fully refreshed under current ownership the condition of this low mileage 3.2 911 is truly sublime. The paintwork presents to an excellent standard in its original Schwarz hue, and after visually inspecting the whole thing we’re pleased to report a deep swirl-free shine across every panel. In recent years the car has been significantly improved both cosmetically and mechanically, with invoices in the paperwork totalling more than £32k since 2017. Any exterior trims or seals showing signs of wear have been replaced, the roof panel has been renewed, and the original Fuchs alloys have been professionally restored in the correct anodised finish. All the lights are clear and undamaged, the rollover bar is spotless, there are no notable stone chips, and the panel gaps are spot-on throughout. Presented in striking black-on-black with no rear wing – our preference for a narrow-body 911 – this must be one of the finest G-series 911s we’ve had the pleasure of selling here at 4 Star.
INTERIOR
The seats are trimmed in black pinstripe cloth with soft leather bolsters, all in first-rate condition. As with the rest of the car the upholstery is exceptionally well presented and we’ve been unable to find wear in any of the usual places. All the electric seat adjustments work correctly and there is no damage to any of the piping. The original leather steering wheel feels great in hand and in the footwells the carpets are spotless. The dash is also pretty much unmarked, and all the switchgear still feels reassuringly solid to operate. Another nice feature is the tasteful Blaupunkt Bremen DAB head unit that adds a touch of modern convenience whilst retaining that period-correct look.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Looking inside the engine bay it’s clear that much attention has been paid to bringing this 911 up to an excellent standard without over-restoring it and thus losing most of the charm. Before the car was repainted in 2020 the engine was removed and thoroughly inspected with a new rear main seal fitted as a matter of course. Many components were then stripped and either restored or replaced as necessary. The engine bay was also fully detailed and wax-treated before the engine was re-fitted. The whole car was then given a full mechanical shakedown, the invoice for all this totalling £8,690 in 2019. Other notable works include a 2017 gearbox rebuild, all-new shocks in 2018, and the most recent service in April 2024 at 63,960 miles.
HISTORY FILE
This magnificent 911 Targa was first registered in May 1986. It was supplied new by Porsche GB in Reading and has now driven just 64k miles in the hands of only 6 registered keepers. The accompanying History File includes a stack of invoices, paperwork, and MOT certificates dating back to the late 80s. All the original Porsche handbooks are on file along with the spare key, a USB drive with over 180 photos documenting much of the work carried out in 2019, and the current V5C registration document showing only 5 former keepers. The original service book is stamped with the following entries:
