Triumph GT6 MK3
Registered on 1st August 1974 and with 7 past owners this GT6 is in excellent condition with just 90,200 miles. In 1990 the car was taken off the road with then 84,308 miles and the owner sent it for a full restoration in 1995 which took 10 years with the car being completed in 2006. In the 20 years from the car being taken off the road in 1990, the car had covered just another 800 miles when it was MOT’d and took to the roads again in 2011. I acquired the GT6 in 2018 with just 85,700 miles on the clock. The car had not benefited mechanically from being stood around and driven just 2,000 miles in 28 years so a major recommissioning begun with c£10,000 spent on making the car “fit” to drive again
The deep history file has the restoration photographs from 1995 to 2005 showing a complete paint strip to bare metal inside and out, repairs to body wherever necessary and the repaint in red. Although completed 20 years ago, todays condition promotes the quality of that restoration with just a very few minor blemishes.
A great and rare feature of any car this age is the invoice file which shows a well maintained and cared for car with invoices going back to 1975.
Under the my ownership invoices over £10,000 show recent recommissioning and modernisation of the GT6. This car has had a top end engine rebuild in 2020 and benefitted from a new 5 speed gearbox I have driven c5,000 miles since 2018 including the NC500 and numerous car shows.
The iconic GT6 is one of the prettiest cars made and benefits from a 6 cylinder 2 ltr engine delivering more power than the Triumph Spitfire. This GT6 has a modern 5 speed manual gearbox fitted that makes the car better to drive and drops the revs to a more audible level when cruising at pace as well as being more responsive in lower gears.
I bought the GT6 in April 2018 and invoices on file include
• Engine tuning, timing service
• GT6 cylinder head rebuild
• Replacement of front wishbones arms and droplinks, wiper blades and service
• NSR drive shaft and wheel bearings, prop shaft and clutch slave cylinder
• Installation of 5 speed manual gearbox
• Replaced rear bushes, wheel alignment and ride height adjustment
The car is in lovely condition and drives very well.
