CATERHAM 7 270R - LOTS OF NICE COMPETITION BITS..!!

So, I acquired this vehicle via the motor sport faculty of a London university. They bought it direct from Caterham back in 2016. The vehicle was to be used by students studying race car preparation (and the car appears to have evolved a little over the years that it was active), before being raced by the tutor.

The academic in charge of the programme left the faculty some time ago so details regarding the car and its’ race history are a little sketchy. It is believed to have been a 270R but it is not thought to have raced in the Caterham supported 270R championship.

The images will reveal what the car contains, by way of expensive upgrades and bolt-ons but it has suffered engine damage which marked the end of its racing career. A replacement Sigma engine was sourced and will be sold with the car. I have been told, but I cannot confirm, that the engine in the car actually has some very nice internal components and the plan was to swap them in to the replacement engine, perhaps as part of a 310R upgrade. With the departure of the academic in charge, the vehicle was, however, side-lined and the project stalled before the engine swap could be made. In recent years it has remained untouched but dry stored.

Two additional sets of wheels and tyres are also included, along with eight unused Toyo tyres. The vehicle is road registered and I am in possession of the V5 document, confirming no previous owners.

Ostensibly complete but requiring restoration back to either road or race specification, this is an inexpensive opportunity to acquire a Sigma powered Caterham 7 and would make a relatively straightforward sprint or hillclimb project.
