74,000 miles
Ordered from the factory on 28th March 1972 for August delivery. Specified in Blu Dino Metallizato with beige hide, beige carpet and air conditioning. Registered on 4th August 1972, records indicate that the car was a demonstrator for Maranello Concessionaires, which explains the car being ordered in the favoured colours of Colonel Ronnie Hoare. As a demonstrator the car featured in Autocar on 28th January 1973. It was sold on by Maranello on 2nd May 1973 to Motortune Ltd of London.
An invoice dated 5th August 1975 shows a full service by Maranello to a gentleman from Cumbria for the sum of £174.53. Another invoice to the same gentleman shows the car to be located in New Zealand. However, the car returned to the UK in the 80's and was subsequently purchased by Ferrari agents Modena Engineering of Surry who sold the car to a well know car aficionado and co-founder of Virgin records, who covered approximately 5,000 miles during his ownership.
The next owner, a highly regarded motoring journalist owned the car up until 20th July 2001 when it was acquired by Maranello Sales to form part of the Ferrari UK Historic Fleet. During this period the car was featured in many magazine articles as well as Jeremy Clarkson's Top 100 Cars DVD. The car also features extensively in Keith Blumels Original Ferrari V12 book. During this period of Maranello ownership the engine was completely rebuilt in their workshop at a mileage of approximately 48,000.
The car was then purchased by a gentleman from London who bought the car on 31st August with a recorded mileage of 54,000 miles. Servicing was carried out initially by ex Maranello technician Neal Lucas, then Surry based specialist SMDG.
The car was sold on in March 2012 to a car collector in Rochdale by the highly regarded Rardley Motors with 68,921 miles. Rardley were used for maintenance during this ownership which lasted around 8 years. The next registered owner took ownership on 27th August 2020, a fastidious gentleman from Farnham who shortly after purchase had the car retrimmed by the most highly regarded Ferrari interior specialists, O'Rourke Coachtrimmers. The cost of this was just short of £22,000 and needless to say the results are simply stunning. On 26th May 2022 the car was serviced by Barkaways Ferrari specialists at a cost of £3,116.30. The car was sourced in 2023 by myself for a most valued client and was subsequently sent to Ferrari specialist Key's Motorsport of Silverstone for a strip down and rebuild of the suspension along with some attention to the A/C system and a through service. The invoice for this was £10,652.21.
