1972 Porsche 911E 2.4
A rare and very early production UK supplied right hand drive 911E featuring the then new 2.4 litre injected engine and 915 gearbox. First put into production in September 1971, this example was first registered in November of that year and supplied to its first owner by Porsche main dealer Malaya Garage in early December.
The car retains its matching numbers and is in extremely good order throughout following a comprehensive restoration by Porsche specialists during 2016/17.
It comes with an extensive history file that indicates that the recorded mileage of 90,000 miles is very likely to be correct and the very good original order of the car when stripped for restoration would seem to back up this relatively low mileage.
During the 1980’s and into the early 2000’s the 911 was well maintained by Porsche Specialist Chris Turner for a local enthusiast based in Surrey. He finally sold the car in 2003 and it subsequently passed through the hands of three enthusiasts prior to the restoration, one being a well-known stalwart of the Porsche Club GB. These owners continued to maintain the 911 well with extensive and detailed invoicing on file from several respected Porsche specialists.
The car arrived for restoration as a good driving example as the maintenance records would seem to indicate however a no compromise approach was taken and hence it was completely stripped and all components checked and refurbished or replaced as appropriate. There is a full written account of the work completed which along with many photographs provides a full commentary of the detail work undertaken.
Prior to completion of the restoration a local Porsche enthusiast managed to buy the car following much persuasion. He took delivery in 2018 and immediately embarked upon a few tours. Correspondence on file documents the inevitable snagging issues, all of which were dealt with as described in invoicing. Subsequently this same enthusiast has continued to use the car enthusiastically but carefully and has maintained it perfectly as many further servicing invoices on file illustrate. The last service being completed in May of this year.
A rare and beautiful early 911 finished in a particularly striking specification. It comes with the above-mentioned substantial history file along with its original toolkit.
