EXTERIOR

Subject to a total restoration by Johnson Autoworks, this Camper looks absolutely stunning in Lotus White complimented by Cloud White detail to the roof and bumpers. The work involved new inner and outer front panels, new cab and cargo floors, new sills and front arches, new tailgate and engine cover as well as new bumpers. Wax oil treatment to the underside rounds up an exhaustive list of improvements.

The Westfalia pop top has been replaced with best-quality Wolfsburg West canvas and the roof rack in a gloss Cloud White, rather than the usual textured resin finish.

INTERIOR

Ready for the festivals or coastlines of the UK this summer, no one does retro cool better than VW. As part of the restoration process, a new interior has been installed by Kens Customs with vinyl in Indiana Red and Rusty Lee ‘rock’n’roll’ bed panels. With wood veneer rear panelling, red and white gingham curtains and a hard wearing black floor this Westy is now fully insulated and sound deadened – guaranteeing a good nights sleep.

The dash has been stripped and painted in body colour, complimented by a gorgeous wood trimmed wheel whilst a complete new wiring loom ensures reliability.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

Under the rear engine lid sits a naturally aspirated 1.6-litre air-cooled flat-four, delivering around 47bhp to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.

The engine has been completely rebuilt with block restored and machined by Limebug.

Featuring new pushrod tubes, crank, shells, pistons and barrels all complimented by a very cool Vintage Speed stainless exhaust this T2 is future proofed for many miles ahead.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

Sitting on a set of 15-inch Fuchs-style alloy wheels finished in gloss-black with polished ‘petal’ spokes the wheels sit just right shod in Yokohama BluEarth-Es tyres with plenty of tread.

The braking system has been overhauled with a disc conversion to the front, whilst a late ‘bay window’ steering box improves feel.

HISTORY FILE

Delivered new to Los Angeles in 1968, the VW certificate confirms this T2 to have started life in Pearl White to Campmobile specifications.

Brought to the UK in 2020 and converted to RHD the car underwent a complete rebuild to the customer’s specifications and presents in fantastic condition.

Having only covered a handful of miles since the work was carried out, this is an excellent opportunity to acquire a Camper that is ready to be used and enjoyed this summer.
