1972 LOTUS ELAN

A beautifully presented 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint manual with just three previous owners and an exceptional history file spanning over 30 years. This car represents one of the finest examples of the Sprint we have encountered combining originality careful restoration and sympathetic modern upgrades.

The Elan Sprint was the final and most developed iteration of the original Elan featuring the 1558 cc Lotus Twin Cam engine and offering exceptional performance and balance thanks to its lightweight construction. This example left the Lotus factory in April 1971 originally finished in the classic green over white Sprint colours and was first registered on 09/05/1972.

Importantly the car still retains its original Sprint engine fitted with Weber carburettors. Prior to the current ownership the car underwent a body off restoration and was repainted in the red over white colour scheme it wears today. The current owner purchased the car from the Sandown Collectors Car Auction on 30/09/93 for £10,000 with the original bill of sale included in the history file and has maintained the car to an exceptional standard ever since.

No expense has been spared with maintenance and improvement works carried out by highly regarded Lotus specialists including Paul Matty Sportscars Steve Williams and Tony Thompson Racing. Recent works include a full cylinder head refresh by HT Howard and the car has just been serviced and prepared for sale by Hofmanns. It will be supplied with a fresh MOT and is ready to be enjoyed immediately.
