BMW Alpina Roadster V8

The Z8 Roadster is a modern iteration of one of the most valuable and beautiful BMWs of the late 50s, the 507 Roadster. The new Z8 retains the classic roadster proportions, featuring a short deck and a long nose. It also retains some of the earlier 507 styling cues, such as the wide kidney grills and side vents.

In 2003, Alpina introduced its interpretation of the Z8 as the Roadster V8. This special, limited Alpina version distinguishes itself as a grand tourer. Offering high-speed yet relaxed long-distance cruising with effortless power courtesy of the 4.8-litre M62 V-8 engine paired with a five-speed automatic transmission and softer suspension. This combination provided a much more relaxed drivetrain and considerably more torque at lower engine speeds. The Alpina Z8 is, therefore, far more pleasant to use and drive. The only visual cues that separate the Alpina Roadster V8 from its sibling are its 20-inch Alpina wheels and subtle badging.

The example presented here is a rare original Japan-delivered model. The exterior is finished in an eye-catching Hellrot red, while the seats are a combination of black nappa leather and red Alcantara. It also comes with a factory hard top and all booklets. Alpina only made 555 examples of the Alpina Z8 Roadster V8, and the plaque mounted between the seats denotes this as chassis number 290 of 555 in the series.
