Throughout the NSX's production span of over ten years, several NSX models were released, including special editions such as the Type S and Type R. In addition to these, Honda introduced the ultra-exclusive Type S Zero edition for customers seeking an ultimate lightweight and track-focused NSX. Only 30 Type S Zeros were ever made, making it a few times rarer than the already sought-after Type R.

The "Zero" designation reflects the model's extreme weight reduction program. It is 96 kg lighter than the standard NSX and 50 kg lighter than the Type S. To achieve the featherweight, the Zero had no cruise control, stereo, power door locks, airbags, traction control, power steering, or fog lights. It is also recognizable with its carbon-fiber Recaro bucket seats and BBS alloy wheels. However, this example is one of the very few equipped with the optional air conditioner, making it suitable for the hot weather in the Asian region. The suspension is also stiffer than the standard Type S, utilizing the NA1 Type R suspension while retaining the Type S's larger rear sway bar.

When it comes to performance, it was equipped with the larger 3.2L V6 DOHC VTEC engine, mated to a six-speed gearbox, and shifted through a titanium shift knob. This Hong Kong-registered example is finished in Indy yellow pearl over yellow, and the paintwork is believed to be the original first paint.
