OVERVIEW
An exceptional post-war design statement, this coachbuilt Bentley features James Young’s streamlined “New Look” silhouette—a radical evolution of the standard Mark VI, with its bespoke elegance, ultra-streamlined styling, fully integrated front wings, covered rear spats, minimal chrome—a daring departure from Bentley’s standard silhouette and a defining statement of post-war innovation.
Welcoming a new era of British luxury, the Bentley MK VI 'New Look' is beautifully presented with period-correct fittings: Lucas driving lamp, B70 headlamps, trafficators, bumper guards, complete tool kit. Powered by 4¼-litre inline-six, Twin SU carburettors, and driven by 4-speed manual, all with a recorded top speed of 100 mph, a staggering feat for a luxury Saloon of its time.
PROVENANCE & RESTORATION
Unveiled at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show and delivered to Ronald Strauss shortly after, this car later joined the collection of Duncan Hamilton—Le Mans winner and renowned dealer. It has remained in enthusiast ownership, treated to a full mechanical and cosmetic restoration completed in 1985 at considerable expense. Since its overhaul, the 'New Look' Bentley has received detailing to the engine bay, interior refurbishment, and mechanical fine-tuning by the Calumet Collection, maintaining the car’s operational integrity and visual authenticity. A stunning and rare example, treated to further 2025 light refurbishment by our skilled workshop technicians, the MKVI is finished with burled walnut dashboard and trim, Smiths instrumentation, and Connolly leather upholstery.
With little use over the years, this highly desirable model presents a rare opportunity to own an ultra-low production example that also offers eligibility for well-known and prestigious concours events, such as Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Salon Privé and Hampton Court Concours of Elegance.
