1992 TVR Griffith 400

Pavilion Gardens | Buxton, Derbyshire 11000 - 13000 Registration No: K618 YCW Chassis No: SDLDGN4P0PL011057 MOT: April 2026 Rarer higher-power 250bhp 400 engine In the vendor's ownership since March 1994, with just one former keeper Supplied new to a Mr. Booth from the Booths supermarket family Just 54,000 miles from new Offered with a history file including the original combined owner's handbook and service book For many, the cream of the TVR crop was the no-nonsense Griffith, manufactured from 1991 to 2002. Borrowing elements from its Tuscan racer and V8S siblings once finalised, the new model's polyester-coated tubular spaceframe featured all round independent coil-over wishbone suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. It was propelled by derivatives of the ubiquitous Rover V8 engine ranging in size from 4.0 to 5.0-litres, mated to a five-speed Rover or Tremec manual gearbox. Suspension was independent all round by double wishbones and coil springs. Braking was by 10-inch ventilated discs at each corner. The model launched with a 4.0-litre unit producing 240hp, but TVR quickly upped the ante, with a 250hp example produced for a short period before larger engine capacity models launched. Remarkably, this well-presented, early 250bhp Griffith has been in single ownership almost from new. First registered in December, 1992, the original owner was Mr. Booth of Booths supermarkets. It was specified with Sand leather upholstery and Ash Green paint, a Volkswagen colour TVR would supply cars in any available colour. After a little over a year, Mr. Booth decided to part with it, and it was sold through Christopher Neal TVR of Northwich to the present owner in March, 1994, when it had covered 15,000 miles. The vendor has cherished it ever since, using it only sparingly so that it has now completed just 54,000 miles, with a few Le Mans trips along the way. It has been meticulously maintained, with regular servicing between 1995 and 2010, plus an additional service in 2019 (only 500 miles were covered between 2010 and 2019). Expenditure has included a new hood in 2012 and a full respray in Ash Green by Chris Gregory in 2019. Much additional work was undertaken by specialists TrackVRoad in 2019, which involved a new battery, steering rack gaiters and fuel pipes. The exhaust was also repaired, with new manifolds, and the chassis was Waxoyled. Some 6300 of work was completed by Central Trimming & Restoration Ltd. in 2023, including the replacement of the front suspension arms and bushes, front and rear shock absorbers, front wheel bearings, upper and lower ball joints, front and rear brake discs and pads, and the speakers. The impressive paperwork file includes the original owners handbook and service book, plus the V5C, the vendor's sales invoice, assorted invoices and MOTs dating back to 1995. The Griffith is also sold with two sets of keys, a TVR car cover and Targa top bag, so its very much a complete package. The car ran beautifully when we saw it, and if we were looking for a thrilling car to take to Le Mans, this would surely be the one.
