EXTERIOR

The Clio V6 always makes a serious impact on first view and never more so than in this epic Acid Yellow – a special I.D. Metallic Pearlescent Illusion paint option. Now refined and improved over the original Phase 1 model, fans of the 255 will celebrate this as one of the coolest Clio’s ever created..

Unveiled as a supercar packaged into a hatchback of compact aggression, the extra wide body work leaves no doubt the V6 turns heads today as much as when it left the factory.

This particular model has had a great deal of care and attention over the years and has covered minimal mileage, presenting in fabulous condition.

INTERIOR

The interior is trimmed with a Motorsport derived mixture of dark grey leather and alcantara that presents clean and free of any major marks or stains, thankfully a well preserved space given the acknowledged fragility of the interior build quality of this era.

A number of features unique to the V6 lift the cabin; alcantara adorned door cards, handbrake and gear gaiters remain soft and supple and offer a stylish departure from vinyl and plastics whilst the car’s designer – Axel Breun – has signed the dash. The all important V6 plaque sits proudly stating the build number.

The seats are in fantastic shape with little to no wear – deeply supportive with wide wing bolsters The alloy gear knob falls to hand exactly where you want it and sitting behind the wheel feels absolutely aligned with the Renault Sport bloodline; beautifully communicative with a tactile weight and feel.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

A 3 litre V6 is the last thing you’d expect to find in a Clio, let alone positioned where the back seats usually are; it is this combination that has set a revered reputation that commands respect.

The sonorous V6 dominates proceedings with a growling exhaust note, whilst torque is plentiful ensuring more sedate pace is no effort at all. Considering the low mileage, the drivetrain is in excellent health with the gear change satisfyingly tight and positive.

Thanks to Porsche consulting on the Phase 2 project with Chassis development, the suspension setup and overall dynamic refinement were finessed to create a much more competent and composed car.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

This phase 2 comes with the iconic factory fit OZ Supertourismo wheels; unmarked in sparkling silver wrapped in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres.

Brake pads and discs show plenty of life with 4 pot calipers to front ensuring excellent stopping power.

HISTORY FILE

A new for 2004 ID colour palette saw Renault reveal this magnificent Acid Yellow of which there were only eight right-hand-drive examples produced for the UK market. Only 6 are thought to remain extant.

The most recent service at 13,261 miles was with renowned V6 guru’s – SG Motorsport – who fit new windscreen washer and headlamp pumps as well as an adjustment to the exhaust system. Prior to that – work carried out during March 2021 at 13,201 miles by Renault dealer, East Bilney Garage, comprised of a routine service with an engine oil and filter change along with the replacement of the cambelt and water pump.

Previously the car was serviced at 11,225, 9,098 and 6,171 miles – routine maintenance services by the main dealer and C M Chambers Cars in Norfolk.

The car comes supplied with all its original handbooks, including the service book, a selection of maintenance invoices, the tool kit and the original sales literature.
