EXTERIOR

Perfectly sculpted from layers of carbon fibre, the intricate design on the 458 Speciale is a sight to behold. With its classic mid-engined proportions and stunning curves its still manages to retain a distinct sense of purpose thanks to a series of precision aerodynamic intakes and vents.

Named after the Mugello region in Tuscany, renowned for its picturesque landscapes and rich cultural heritage, this hue embodies the essence of Italian flair. What sets Rosso Mugello apart is its depth and complexity, which evolves with changing light conditions and combined with the Pininfarina body is particularly striking in the flesh. Wrapped in Full PPF the paintwork has been protected and enhanced for many miles to come.

Complimenting the colour scheme is a factory Blue and White NART racing stripe whilst lashings of carbon fibre at the front spoiler, engine bay and rear diffuser hint to a track focus; which no doubt added a substantial premium from new.

INTERIOR

Demonstrating the lightweight focus of the Speciale the cabin is shrouded in carbon fibre, spreading to the sills, doors, dashboard, steering wheel, centre console and deeply bolstered bucket seats.

Despite the minimal appointment of the interior the 458 still feels luxurious and tech laden. With a carefully considered scheme of Bordeaux stitching and details contrasting the blue leather and alcantara making up most of the upholstery. The cabin features extracampionario carpets and Blu Medio colouring is adorned throughout with the headlining, belts, wheel and luggage set. A dual screen display provides live feedback from the car whilst also providing controls for the navigation and entertainment system.

Further luxuries come in the form of air conditioning, parking sensors and the all important front lift – although the fire extinguisher mounted in the footwell ensures the occupants never truly forget the nature and focus of the Speciale design brief.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

Truly the last of its the kind the 458 Speciale features the final naturally aspirated V8 engine to be produced by Ferrari, and what an engine it is. Revving all the way to 9,500 rpm the 4.5L V8 produces 597bhp, managing 0-60mph in just 3 seconds thanks to the seamless 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Though what’s more impressive than the numbers is the sound; erupting into life the sound of Ferrari’s V8 is unmistakable, building from a crackle to a symphonious howl as the rev limit rapidly approaches.

Peering through the rear glass screen this example looks more special than most, with the incredible V8 nestled in the full carbon engine bay – an optional extra costing almost £5k.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

Weighing just 9.4kg the Speciale specific wheel provides a significant saving over those fitted to the standard car and look utterly superb, with their satin grey finish perfectly offsetting the rich Mugello bodywork. Condition of the wheels is excellent all around, with matching Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2’s fitted at each corner.

Vast ceramic discs and Blue calipers show through the fine spokes, providing strong and consistent braking on road and track.
