Description

After several years of restoring the car mechanically we appear to have run out of things to do. With that done, a lack of space and my wife’s persuasion we are moving onto our next project . So Trophy 271 after the majority of its life under our stewardship is up for sale for the right buyer. It is increasingly been kept stored and not used so another reason to let someone else get the benefit.
The car mechanically is in absolutely top condition and we have made strenuous efforts to ensure it’s close to original condition and with considerable time and expense invested in the restoration. It should also be a very inexpensive car to run for the next few years as the big ticket items for cars of this age have basically all been done in the past few thousand or so miles . It will also come with a variety of original parts and within the price and a full service from Andy at Renault before being handed over to new owner.
Almost all of the restoration work would has been done by Andrew Crichton formerly at R Sport and then Renault West. Andy was a race mechanic and one of the best known Renault Sport fettlers in West London with a speciality in caring for cherished R Sport vehicles.
In the case of 271 he has looked after the car since it arrived with me (plus the previous 182) and Andy has done a ton of work getting the car to a like new stage - the list of work is exhaustive and a lot of the history of the car can be found on the Trophy Forum.
On top of that it will also come fitted with a spare set of adjustable suspension to ensure the new set of Sachs are kept fresh plus other spares we have accumulated including a spare bonnet.
Also we will also arrange a full new dephaser and timing belt kit and water pump to be fitted prior to the new owners stewardship by Andrew Cochrane. Last time it was done was less than 10 thousand miles ago and has spent a lot of the past years sine then in storage but thought would include that too.
It will also have been oil changed and serviced within a few hundred miles by Andy
Full write up is available on the Clio Sport Forum with full description and pictures
In summary as part of the restoration we have done a full nut and bolt refresh of the engine and gearbox with new dephaser belts clutch etc. 8 thousand miles ago.
We have a full set of Sachs OEM front and rear boxed to be fitted we to keep those box fresh have a set of adjustable Bilsteins on the car at the moment.
Brakes have fitted new front callipers, discs and pads in the past few thousand miles and refurbed the wheels.
Also done some cosmetic work like fitting new headlights and bumper from parking scratches.
There are a series of other bits and pieces listed in the Clio Sport write up like new battery in past hundred miles or so.
Bad bits
There is a small. Oil weep around the gear selector
Car paintwork is generally in very good condition but there is a shadow where the spoiler meets the roof paintwork and it is 20 years old so the odd stone chip etc.
The only rust I found was the bonnet support strut mount area and I have a spare Trophy bonnet to replace that when someone wants.
For sale including all the spare suspension, bonnet and a few other bits and bobs from London for £13,500
