We are delighted to offer for sale this wonderful 1950 Bentley B Speed Eight Le Mans Special by Racing Green Engineering.

Having established itself as the definitive racing car of the early 1930’s, the Bentley Speed Eight achieved remarkable success including four consecutive victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1927 and 1930. Under the stewardship of the legendary ‘Bentley Boys,’ including company chairman Captain Woolf Barnato, the success of these early Bentley’s continues to evoke passion and admiration wherever they appear.

Completed in June 2008, this Speed Eight Open Tourer is faithfully crafted to mirror the original Le Mans cars and is based on a genuine and fully refurbished 1950 Bentley MkVI Chassis. Powered by the legendary and period-correct Bentley ‘B81’ (6,516-cc), in line eight-cylinder engine featuring dry sump lubrication and 4 SU Type H.6 carburettors and paired to a Bentley 4-speed transmission.

The bespoke coachwork replicates Bentley’s original construction methods and features an ash frame clad in aluminium panels with wadding and fabric covering. With paintwork finished in Rolls Royce Brewster Green with Green Rexine, the addition of the rear painted roundel and Bentley ‘flying B’ radiator mascot both enhance the period-correct appearance.

The interior is beautifully appointed and completed with 2+2 seating trimmed in matching Lincoln Green Connolly leather and green leather-bound carpets. In addition, the instrument panel features an aluminium engine-turned finish which showcases high-quality reproductions of the original gauges.

Optional extras include the fold-flat windscreen paired with side aero-screens which can be positioned either in the traditional scuttle position or as draft deflectors. Further additional specification includes a high-ratio rear differential, 21″ Rudge-Whitworth painted spoked wheels, rear wing stone guards, leather covers to the rear leaf spring suspension, quick release fuel cap and the painted rear roundel. The car also comes with a fully retractable mohair custom hood and wet weather gear, tonneau cover, and hood bag.

With a complete record of the original build order and specification and service history from Racing Green Engineering, recent services have been completed by the renowned engineers at Jim Stokes Workshop in Hampshire. In addition to these records, an accompanying letter from the Bentley Drivers Club confirms the authenticity of the original Bentley Speed 8 engine and chassis components and is signed by the Director and Chairman of the Bentley Authentication Committee.
