Description
Stratton Motor Company are delighted to offer this stunning and almost unique 2000 Aston Martin Stratton V600 Le Mans conversion of the acclaimed V8 Vantage, mirroring the specification of the very rare and beautiful Aston Martin V8 Vantage Le Mans.
The original Le Mans car, of which only 40 were ever produced, was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1999. The limited number of 40 was of significance to commemorate the 40th year anniversary of the historic win at Le Mans in 1959 when racing drivers Roy Salvadori and Carol Shelby took the infamous Aston Martin DBR1/2 through the chequered flag to steal victory from Ferrari.
Based on the supercar of its time, the V8 Vantage, in stock form producing a remarkable 550bhp along with 55olbs/ft of torque, Aston Works developed this car further, raising the output to 600bhp and then improving the car further, both mechanically in terms of uprated suspension and brakes which included vented/grooved discs and six pot calipers to the front along with distinctive Dymag 5 Spoke hollow Magnesium Alloy wheels with wheel bolt covers. There were also many body enhancements to include Nostril front grille, Cut Away front air dam, Ducted bonnet vent, DBR1 style side vents, twin machined alloy fuel filler caps to replicate those on the Le Mans car with re-worked rear wings to accommodate and a much more aggressive rear valance.
Even the interior had enhancements which included cream coloured dials with with an oil pressure gauge and much larger rev counter and speedo.
Most of the 40 cars produced were green with a tan or black interior.
This particular car, one of only a handful of Stratton conversions started life as a 2000 Aston Martin V8 Vantage but has been lovingly converted to Le Mans spec, exacting in detail and finished in a beautiful Mendip blue coachwork with a contrasting Cream Leather Connolly hide leather interior with black piping and a wealth of walnut veneers.
Performance was also staggering with a claimed top speed of 200mph and a 0-60mph of just 3.9 seconds, even remarkable by todays standards. A remarkable achievement.
Every attention to detail has been made during the conversion and with just a handful of these cars ever built is surely one for the discerning collector.
