ROVER P5 COUPE
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at Silverstone Festival 2025 on Sunday the 24th of August, The Wing, Silverstone Circuit, NN12 8TN.
Launched at the London Motor Show in October 1965 and described at the time as 'even more luxuriously trimmed', the Mark III used the same 3-litre engine as its predecessor, although it now produced 134bhp
According to its accompanying Heritage Certificate, GTY 630D was built on 11/01/1966 as a UK, home-market car and first registered on 02/02/1966
Originally finished in Juniper over Pine Green, it was repainted in British Racing Green with a light green roof in c.2010 with a photographic record on file
The car continues to present well with good shut-lines, the paintwork retains a good deep shine and the chrome highlights the style lines beautifully
Rover interiors of this era are always a bit special, particularly those models aimed at the top end of the market and the Suede Green leather seating appears excellent
It's rare to find a manual gearbox/overdrive example so we assume its first owner enjoyed exploiting the Rovers decent performance and 'sporting' handling
Purchased by our vendor in 2014 and has formed part of his Collection since, used sparingly but always well maintained
It's supplied with a number of previous MOT Certificates confirming little use in recent years and the indicated mileage of 39,114 appears to be genuine although can't be warranted
This rare Coupé has recently featured in Classic Car Weekly and is running and driving beautifully
Offered with a V5C, previously mentioned MOTs, invoices, original owner's maintenance and instruction manuals and some period literature
