It’s History

Supplied new by H.A. Fox in Southampton on 09 May 1998, this Jaguar has had 7 owners, the last since December 2018. The first owner kept the car until 2009, having the Jaguar regularly serviced by the supplying dealer until May 2005 at 60723 miles, when the engine failed with low compression on cylinders 1 and 4 and possible timing chain issues. The cause of these issues were the familiar problems with the Nikasil cylinder liners and plastic timing chain tensioners fitted to engines built before August 2000 and August 2001 respectively. The good news is a replacement Jaguar engine was fitted in 2005, as shown on the plate on the engine, these later engines have had both these issues corrected and don’t suffer from these problems. This new engine has only completed 60000 miles. The Jaguar comes with the original Jaguar book pack, minus the service book, but a full set of invoices and MOT’s verifying the mileage and consistent maintenance done over the years. In the boot, the supplied toolkit is complete, in place and in great condition.

The Jaguar was treasured by its last elderly owner who continued the diligent continuous maintenance carried out by previous owners.

On the Road

The Jaguar drives superbly either hood up or down and is a superb grand touring car with a surprising turn of speed available from the lovely 4.0 litre V8 32 valve engine. The suspension is a wonderful combination of smooth ride and great body control through the corners a set up that Jaguar are particularly skilled in getting spot on.

These Jaguar XK8 X100 cars represent incredible value for money at the moment especially if like this car the troublesome engine issues have been fixed with a new Jaguar engine having only completed 60000 miles.
