Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this very special matching-numbers Aston Martin DB6 Mk 2 Vantage which has been maintained with a no expense spared mindset. Looking extremely very smart in its period Black Pearl metallic, over £160,000 has been spent with the very best Aston Martin marque experts to make this one of the very finest examples available anywhere.
The DB6 Mk 2 in Vantage specification produced a significant power improvement over the 285 bhp of the standard DB6 according to the factory. One of just 46 cars manufactured with the AE Brico system, the majority of these were later improved by Aston Martin Lagonda Works Service converting to the more reliable Weber carburetion system with VC specification 50F6 idling jet and 250 needle valve. The Vantage with its ZF 5 speed manual gearbox produced a reputed 325 bhp and our car is presented in this ultimate specification. Top speed was an amazing 150 mph.
Flared wheel arches on the DB6 Mk 2 accommodated the 6” wide wheels and high-speed tyres which improved grip and road holding. The seats were re-designed items from the DBS with contours to better support the passengers. Larger disc brakes were added which stop the DB6 Mk 2 from 100 mph to zero in just six seconds. Power steering and an electrically heated rear window were standard.
The DB6 differed from its predecessors in having a longer wheelbase which at 8′ 5¾” was 3¾” longer than that of the DB5. This meant more room for the rear passengers and made the DB6 more of a family GT which helped it to sell better than earlier models in the series. The bodywork was distinctive with a slightly higher roofline than the DB4 and DB5 and featured an aerodynamically efficient abbreviated ‘Kamm’ tail.
Supplied new by HWM Ltd, Walton Upon Thames in December 1970, the DB6 Mk 2 Vantage is complete with its handbook, original service book, warranty card, build sheet specification, detailed ownership information and service history, MoT’s dating from 1973 and colour brochure. PPF paint protection, a discreet modern radio with iPod connection and Bluetooth, and a Tracker system have also been fitted. This is an opportunity to own a unique and iconic classic Aston Martin.
