1958 Bentley S1
B531EK was supplied new to the first keepers by Jack Barclay of London, and first registered in April 1958 making this the desirable F series car built in the last year of production. This example came equipped with power steering, twin circuit braking and larger SU carburettors. Presented in Silver over Maroon with Red hide interior. The interior has been fully reupholstered and the headlining and carpets are new. The brakes and brake lines have also been replaced in recent years. The Bentley S1 was unveiled in April 1955. A very different car from its predecessors, it was both longer and wider and based on a much stiffer chassis of 16-gauge closed box-section design, complete with cruciform centre bracing. The vast majority were delivered with the standard body produced by Pressed Steel Ltd, that featured weight-saving alloy doors, bonnet and boot lid. The newcomer was powered by the final iteration of the company’s venerable 4.9-litre straight-six engine, that featured revised cylinder-head porting and produced 178bhp. S1s were offered with a choice of wheelbase -10 ft 3in or 10 ft 7 in. Of the total of 3,107 produced between 1955 and 1958. The price at introduction ranged from c.£4,669 to £6,894 depending on specification. The model could accelerate to 60mph in around 14.2 seconds and just exceed 100mph. This example is sold fully serviced with 1 years MOT.
